“Not to be missed”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

We enjoyed visiting the Baptistry. We purchased a Firenze card which covers admission. There is a center in the building across the street were you take your firenze card to get tickets to the Baptistry, Duomo, and museum. Each place has a separate ticket. We visited on Saturday, June 29, 2013 and did not have to wait in a line to enter the Baptistry. They had brochures with details which helped understand the symbolism and history behind the Baptistry. The original 'Gates of Paradise' have been restored and our on display in the Duomo museum.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

He exterior of the Baptistry is very interesting especially the copies of the original Ghiberti doors (go see the real ones in the Duomo Museum) but the interior is fabulous. From the beautiful marble floor to the frescos on the ceiling, it is amazing, truly an experience. And of course, if you have read or are reading Dan Brown's Inferno, you must visit this stop to see the here's path.

“Truly beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2014

We were told by our driver that once we had been to Italy it would be the main country we would remember for the sights, smells and beauty of it all. This is another one for the memory bank.

From the entryway to the ceilings, it is definitely a must see. Entry is included with il duomo and giottos Campanella so do not miss it.

“Just to keep the world informed...The 'Battistero di Firenze' is going under surgery...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

To alla readers and partecipants of Trip Adv from all over the hemisphere:
please note that in about few days the beautiful Battistero di Firenze -Piazza San Giovanni -Duomo will not be visible at all from the outside because in restoration -works are planned to be ended in 2015 some day (see the official website -Opera del Duomo).
The enclosed today's pic is just to let you know how it was looking this morning (feb 8, 2014)- bring the photo along with you it before leaving home and don't be upset...it'll be a good reason to come again in town to see how beautiful it 'll be after a deep makeup (no surgery though...).
Ps Anyway good cards at newsstands of how it looked until few days ago.
Best regards, and be patient.
I'll let you know about the works ...in progress, but since Pope Francesco is foreseen in town within some months, the Battistero ..sure will be ready pretty soon. Ciao and take care.
