stayed 7 nights 6th october. hotel very central. flew to pisa from liverpool airport where we purchased tickets for the bus at 5 euros one way. nice modern bus - non stop pisa to florence takes about an hour. train station and bus station outside airport. no need to queue for taxi when you get to florence hotel is on via nationalale about 5 minutes from where bus drops you off. Cross the road and turn second left after mcdonalds. atlantic palace about 500 yards down street on right. loadsa bars and restaurants within a couple minutes walking distance. hotel very well run, reception very helpful. we had large room on third floor, very clean, room a bit dated but it is an old bulding lovely reception area. sheets, pillowcases and towels changed every day. breakfast was in a very pleasant dining room on the ground floor served by pleasant staff their was always lots of hot coffee and hot milk on the go with a selection of teas, bacon, omelettes, cheese, ham and garlic ham plus tomatos fruit, yoghurt and crusty rolls and toast and fresh fruit. what more could you want. whilst in florence we got the train to pisa to spend a few hours there. be sure to get your tickets validated. we purchased them from the booking office bought return tickets but did not know you have to put them in a machine to validate them before you board the train. inspector got on and said he could charge us 40 euros each for committing this heinous crime (how were we to know) in the event he charged us 5 euros each (think he may have pocketed this) as we noticed it happening to another two victims on this occasion the lady inspector explained that they "should have" validated the tickets and charged them 5 euros each but gave them a receipt. another day we got the bus to lucca which was a nice trip and a further day was spent in San Giminiano well worth the visit. We also did the tourist bus round florence. 14 euros each for a full day two different buses red line and green line one runs every 15 minutes and the other every 30 minutes taking in different parts of florence. went to lovely opera at a beautiful church called st marks excellent performance in a beautiful setting. the market is just round the corner from the hotel and is open almost every day from early until about 8p.m. most stalls selling handbags, purses, belts and pashminas, scarves etc., and the usual tourist nic nacs. all in all a lovely city and a most enjoyable holiday at a pleasant hotel
our room was on the front and we enjoyed looking out watching the hustle and bustle we were high eno...
