“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2010

Having visited Florence many times Hotel Gioia was the best hotel we have come across yet. Perfect location minutes from the Duomo and San Lorenzo, large clean room and without doubt the nicest staff you could ask for. Tiziano is charming and breakfast with Pasquale and his cappucinos a treat...especially if you are a coffee lover! Sadly we did not get all their names but every member of staff we came across were genuinly helpful and friendly. Overall a perfect place to stay in a perfect city.....we will defianately be returning to Florence and to the hotel Gioai and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you to the hotel for a great trip.

In response to previous reviews the hotel is located in a beautiful old building (as are most hotels in Florence) so steep narrow corridors and a few marks on the walls are surely to be expected. Also we slept very well and our room overlooked the busy Via Cavour...we found our room to be peaceful and heard nothing other the usual noise you would expect from a busy city. Breakfast is also a typical Italian continental spread and was the best we have come across over our many trips to Florence.....the service from Pasquale made it fun and his coffees really were amazing.

When choosing a hotel in Florence we would say location is the most important thing to consider.....please choose the hotel Gioia....you will not be disappointed! The Williams family

We were suppose to stay at another hotel down the street. On our arrival they told us we would have to stay at a hotel Gioia, which is a three star hotel. If you pay more the $70 CDN per night you are not getting your monies worth. The lobby is run down, the stair ways are steep and dirty. Our room had four single beds in it. Two were put together. I did not sleep at all. All I could do is wait for the sun to come out to leave.
The walls are dirty, the paint is cracked, the walls are chipped. The shower curtain does not fit around the tub.
There are a couple of wooden chairs in the room, didn't sit in one they don't look comfortable. I
The breakfast consists of a bun, cereal, and yogurt. The coffee is good.
The staff are great, friendly and very helpful.
If you are use to staying in 1 or 2 star hotels this will probably be ok but don't expect a three star hotel.

This was a perfect pick for being as close to Galleria Dell' Academia and David as possible. Everything is at a walking distance and you pass by Duomo where ever you go. The triple room was large, properly equipped, even had a big terrace, and it was very clean, including the spacious bathroom. Tiziano is most charming and helpful in recommendations and directions (do not skip dinner at Za-Za). On top, they make excellent cappuccino any time of day and night. Just truly pleasant experience all around. Would go back to Gioia any time.

This hotel was definitely a gem! Staff were friendly and very helpful. We felt like family. The hotel was clean and everything was in good working order. We truly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it. We fell in love with Pasquale, who makes the best cappuccinos anywhere. The location was great- close to the train station and to the Duomo.

We selected this hotel after reviewing many on Tripadvisor. We were looking for good value for money and a convenient position for sightseeing. This hotel offered both.
We walked from the station to the hotel, there is no 'kerb appeal' when you approach it, but we were warmly welcomed and our room was ready. We had a superior room, which was large, plainly decorated and most importantly clean and fresh. The bathroom was also very clean.
Breakfast was adequate.
All in all, this hotel offered good value for money and met our expectations.

We had a great time in Florence which was also due to the great accommodation we had. The hotel is walking distance to all the major attractions which meant the we could go back to the hotel for a siesta between activities on a few occasions.
The owners and staff where friendly and kind and helpful and always willing to chat and offer helpful advice. The breakfast which was included in the price was good with enough to give one a good start to the day. The bonus was they made a great cup of real coffee.
The only advise we would give the owners is that Internet service was dated and expensive. It could have been free as we found at many other hotels.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time in Florence.
