“Great Location, Beautiful rooms”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2012

I stayed here with my girlfriend for two nights while in Florence. The service was top notch. The room was very classy and we had our own rooftop balcony that looked out over the city. The location is right along the Arno, is within eyeshot of the Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi, is situated directly in the shopping and restaurant district. Besides the balcony, our favorite part was the morning brunch.

Room Tip: the rooftop balcony was a nice touch.

The hotel is very close to Ponte Vecchio and to the center of the town. It is located in an old large building which extends from the river to a back street and which has been renovated in an old fashioned style. Its main entrance is in front of river Arno while a nicer side entrance is in a small square in front of an ancient church. While the building is not very impressive from the outside after the entrance a large, airy and elegant hall with soft colors welcomes you.
Our room was a medium size room with old style furniture, a desk, a comfortable bed, a small recently renewed bathroom. There was not much light from the outside because its two small windows faced an inner courtyard. But the strong point of the room was its 28 sq. meters terrace with table and chairs which overlooked another terrace (the roof garden of the hotel), the roofs of the adjacent buildings and the small square with the ancient church. If you visit Florence in spring or summer the terrace will be a really pleasant surprise. If you are planning to stay more days in Florence give up the river view and ask for one of the rooms with the terrace (there are just two or three). Staying there sipping a glass of wine will be really pleasant after your long walks in town.
Unfortunately the air heating of the room was really noisy (after a while you preferred to switch it off) but this is the only downside of the room. The breakfast room is spacious, elegant, with comfortable tables and a wide selection of what you usually expect in a four stars hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the few rooms with the terrace

Lovely hotel and fantastic room. We had a suite facing the river right at the top of the hotel. A massive wind could be opened to see the whole of the river beneath. The room was spotless and the food; breakfast, was good as well. The people were all very helpful and polite and encouraged my very poor attempts at speaking Italian.

Room Tip: Go for the same room as us. Probably a converted attic but stunning. Right at the top facing the riv...

We booked the hotel due to the location as I was running the Florence marathon. The hotel was outstanding, great rooms, great service, helpful and pleasant staff. The hotel started breakfast early on the day of the marathon, and the staff could not do enough for us.

The staff were helpful regarding directions to different locations in the city. As the hotel is within a 10 minute walk of everything in Florence, it's a great base, you can pop back between sightseeing.

Breakfast was great plenty of choice.

All in all if we are lucky enough to visit Florence again we will definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: If its your first time in Florence take a taxi from the station.

The Hotel Berchielli in Florence is highly recommended by other travelers and we can officially join the group of happy customers who appreciated all the hotel has to offer. The staff are service oriented, happy to accommodate your needs, efficient and friendly. Unfortunately the room we requested with a view of the river on a higher floor smelled badly of cigarette smoke (despite this part of the hotel being non-smoking) so we had to move to a lower floor with no view. The room we had on the second floor for three ended up working out okay for us as we spent most of our time outside exploring the city. The street noise can be loud especially as the weekend approaches if you need or want to have the window open. The location of the hotel is really perfect - quite close to major sites you`ll want to visit and very easy to get to the left bank of the Arno where there are more interesting shops, sites and restaurants to explore. The breakfast room at the hotel is well staffed and the choices are substantial. Taking time to sit at or near the bar is a good way to meet people and chat about your day in Florence.
This hotel is worth staying at if the cost can fit your budget.

We were recently supposed to honeymoon in Italy and were staying at Hotel Berchielli for part of the trip. Due to hurricane Sandy hitting the East Coast of the US, our flight to Italy was canceled and our trip inevitably cancelled as well.

Although we haven’t gotten to stay yet, we can’t say enough about the hospitality we received from the staff at Hotel Berchielli. They were overly accommodating in the booking and cancellation process. We are going to try to postpone our honeymoon trip in the future and we will be sure to rebook with them because of the level of professionalism they showed us during this misfortunate situation. If you are looking for a hotel, I would recommend booking with them based off the high level of hospitality they have shown us during this circumstance

We loved the hotel. It was a great location. The breakfast was very good. The bathroom was very nice. Unfortunately we were there after the air conditioning had been switched to heat and we had a room with a loft. The first night was uncomfortably warm. We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay three again if we had the chance.
