We stayed at the Hotel Berchielli as a couple and were delighted with the location, right next to the river and just a stone's throw from Ponte Vecchio. Everything is in walking distance too.
Our room was spacious and clean with a generous bathroom. It was a little loud at night but the noise from Florence's narrow streets does travel up. It was certainly not enough to keep us up! After all the sightseeing, the hotel did feel like a very calm and quiet place to come home to.
The breakfast was fantastic. Real orange juice - no rubbishy cheap orange "nectar" - and divine coffee. Eggs, pastries, savouries, fruit - it was all there for the taking!
The only thing we missed was an English-speaking TV channel with some news, but I guess if you are out all day and all night soaking up beautiful Florence, you may not see that as a priority.

The hotel was gorgeous, staff friendly, breakfast adequate, service good, location the best! We were upgraded for free to a riverfront room and were thrilled at first. But whether or not that was the reason it was so noisy, I am not certain. We had NO control over temperature, and the staff member who showed us the room was not upfront about that....I specifically asked where the temperature controls were and she said nothing about them doing nothing. The room was extremely warm, and I asked if we could open the windows. We could but mosquitos might be an issue. It was so warm, we had no choice. I am assuming that since the visit was early November, it was too late for air conditioning and too early for heat, so that is why there was no control, but I would have to verify this before staying here again. The windows she claimed were sound proof, and yet we could hear even footsteps on the sidewalk from the fourth floor, let alone the expected noise from the street!! Next visit, I would bring earplugs for the noise because the pros definitely outweigh the cons. But temperature contol would be a deal breaker.

Mosquito bites in the bedrooms - I lost count at 22 bites on me, not good shower facilities, noisy bedrooms with noise coming from outside. Any recommendation from the hotel as regards restaurants turned out to be lousy - namely Angelina's - near the opera evening location and ToTo - a pizza restaurant on the same street - both not good.

On the plus side great location and very nice bar in the lobby and not a bad breakfast and the loan of umbrellas from reception.

I loved everything about hotel Berchielli. This hotel was the highlight of our italian trip in which we stayed in 6 different hotels in 4 cities. I do not have any negative comments about this hotel. Location was close to everything in Florence, most of the sights that tourists want to visit are within walking distance, there are many good restaurants around, shopping is all over the neighbourhood, and some really nice spots to walk around and see various street performances. All hotel employees were excellent, we did not have a single issue with any member of staff. Internet was stable, free, and fast. Breakfast was more than adequate. Room was nice and quiet, and was cleaned promptly. We stayed with the hotel for 5 nights and we did not have a single negative thing about anything or anyone in the hotel. Everything was smooth, from check-in to check-out. This is a HIGHLY recommended hotel
