“Great location, very basic ”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Spent three nights here in the summer heat. Very basic room, but clean and comfortable. We walked everywhere. Difficult with suitcases as stairs are steep & staff courteous but didn't help book activities. Good for easygoing travellers.

The room my wife and I shared was quite acceptable, past its best but clean and quiet despite overlooking a busy road since it had a well fitting double glazed window. Our son's room, however, had a poorly fitting, single glazed window overlooking the same road and he was troubled by external noise all night. Our bathroom was adequate with a bath with an over shower, his had a strange pull-out shower which, however, did its job. The sitting area was large and pleasant with an Italian faded grandeur feel about it. The breakfast dining room was big enough but the breakfast was disappointing with poor quality chopped ham and mortadella and plastic wrapped processed cheese (we were expecting a selection of sliced cooked meats and cheeses).
The air conditioning in our room was just about adequate and quite efficient in our son's room. We had good wi fi reception in our room but our son had to go into the lobby for a reception.
A bonus is the closeness of the hotel to the rail and bus station, about 500 yards, and its location in the centre of the city.
Considering the cost of the hotel for our 4 day stay it was quite good value and we would stay there again but request a room with double glazed window and a proper shower rather than the one our son occupied.

Room Tip: Request a room with a well fitting, double glazed window and a proper bathroom (unless you are happy...

The hotel is located in a good location, walking distance to train station and within walking distance of most sites in Florence.
The staff was very helpful and friendly.
The room and bath were small, but clean.
Breakfast is good, but out side the hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor, no elevator.

Unfortunately this hotel has become that of a slum lord property. I've stayed here twice over a 5-year period. The first time there was bellhop service, very nice breakfast, service with a smile and I was actually greeted as I left in the morning and returned at night. The second time was bad enough I wanted to leave. The breakfast room was half the size it was originally, no bellhop service, tiny elevator (I can overlook that). The service seemed reluctant and I saw no friendly face at the front desk (I stayed for 2 weeks). I will give credit to the staff when the weather turned cold, nice warm blankets were added to our beds. It is barely maintained and seems to have plumbing problems which have turned into mold problems. It's really a shame because the location is perfect. The hotel-produced photos look very nice, but the hotel is dark and not welcoming. The lobby is dark and dingy. The only good rooms are the newly refurbished ones - so ask for one of those or go somewhere else. Please, someone, buy this hotel and renovate it! It would be a goldmine!

You get what you pay for with this hotel. Our AC would not work so we would hide the remote in our bag so they could not turn it off. Breakfast is good. Wifi is only available in the lobby (which is really gross). We took off the top comforters because they were disgusting and just slept with just sheets. Great location within walking distance of all of the places we visited on our 5 night stay.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I could not put my feet on the carpet it was so filthy and was unable to sleep for the smell in the room. Someone needs to visit and update these photos! DON'T GO!

The location is good. its a about 3-5 minutes away from the terminale (train station) .The staff are friendly. But the hotel is very old.. Our room is on the second floor, the elevator is horrible.. there's a very small space left in our room bec of the humongous beds & chairs inside. the bathtub is clogged & the hairdryer looks more like a vacuum cleaner hose. And there's NO wifi. Just simply avoid it.
