“Ideal location for all the main sights & train & bus station.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

This Hotel used to be a Palace many years ago & the door outside hides this fact until you step inside & its like the tardis! The rooms are huge & the housekeeping very good. The breakfast is served on the 1st floor & look up at the old frescooed ceiling its amazing. The staff are relaxed & speak a few languages plus are very helpful. It,s main attraction for me is that it,s a 5 min walk to the train station or 7 mins walk to bus station. Also if you come outside the front door, cross the road & turn left the Duomo is in sight & is a leisurely 10 min walk away. You can leave your luggage if your flight is a while after check out plus they let you use the toilet if you pop back anytime.
There is a coutyard you can sit in with coffee, the rooms dont have tea & coffee making facilities but ther,s a machine next door to the breakfast room where you can get a cup for 50 cents.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room on a higher floor as the 1st floor may have a bit of noise first thing with bre...

After hotels in Rome this hotel was a relief. Making reservations far enough in advance gets you a great discount. Loved our room, fantastic large bathroom, and just the right old world charm to wipe away the memory of tiny noisy spots in Rome. Very well located, English speaking staff. You can leave your luggage all day at either end of your stay. It's great to walk out the door and be steps away from everything you want to see and do.

We were amazed at the size of the room when we arrived at Hotel Paris (after coming from a tiny room in Rome). The room had such character - no boring, standard hotel rooms here! - and had a large bathroom with a tub as well. We were only about 2 blocks from the duomo (which you could see as you stepped out the front door) and less than a half mile from the river.

We had never had to leave our key at the desk of a hotel before, so that felt weird to our American independence, but it was actually a nice opportunity to talk with the hotel staff every time we walked in and out.

The breakfast at Hotel Paris was wonderful -- be sure to try the small croissants with chocolate bits in them if you stay! I'm still craving them…

There was some road noise overnight - the sounds tend to echo in those narrow streets but we chose to sleep with our windows open because we were so happy to have the nice weather. It was worth it to keep them open. :)

Very nice stay in every way. Staff spoke English and were very helpful.
A very convenient location. Hotel not full of luxury but nice all the same, we stayed for 3 nights and we found a few nice restaurants in the near vicinity for those travelling on a small budget.

There are a lot of things to like about Paris Hotel. The location is great; a short walk from the train station, close to all the major sites in the Florence center city. It offers a lot of amenities, particularly for a longer stay. We stayed for 4 nights, made our reservation on the hotel's web site, and got a bottle of wine, 2 fruit baskets, and free Wi-Fi. The price was very affordable. And the staff was terrific and worked very hard to be accommodating.

Despite all of that, I can only rate this hotel as 'average.' Some of the other reviewers have commented on spotty Wi-Fi service. Our room was in a dead zone. It wasn't a big deal for us, we just took our iPads to the breakfast room or outside in the patio/garden, or even just sat on one of the many public couches where we had a decent connection. But for us, the biggest disappointment was how the hotel has declined since we stayed there on our first ever trip to Italy 15 years ago. At that time, Hotel Paris was the nicest, most elegant hotel we stayed in. I would not use the word 'elegant' now. Frankly, it hasn't been well maintained and there are some disappointing shortcomings. One corner of the ceiling in our room was unpainted (perhaps from a repair job that hadn't been completed?) Some of the furniture was getting pretty worn, and the carpet in our room was threadbare in places.

If you can see beyond those issues, you probably would enjoy a stay at the hotel. And I hope that they reinvest in sprucing it up so that the next time we visit Florence, it once again might be considered an elegant hotel.

Room Tip: Inspect the room before you unpack. We didn't like the first room we were shown, but the recepti...

Dear Guests,

first of all we would like to thank you for your detailed review and for your fidelity..
We try constantly to refurbish the hotel but the very high occupancy make it hard.
In any case we have scheduled refurbishment where it is necessary.
Most of the rooms have been already refreshed.
I wish to clarify that we left appositely "an unpainted corner" in the ceiling of a few rooms to show the old and spoiled frescoes that is not possible to restore.
Hoping that you will come back again at our hotel Paris finding it completely refurbished, our warmest regards
The management

This hotel is wonderfull, the service is excellent, very helpfull and kind front desk clerks, and the most important: 5 minute walk to the Duomo, the Uffizzi museum and the Palazzo Vecchio and Academia also. Mural on the ceiling, stained glass, furniture, carpets... you find yourself in another time... Renaissance. But the blankets and the linens should be definitly changed, carpets and drapes could do with some updating. We recommend this hotel in Florence.
