“Need to go back to basics of hotel management”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

Hotel staff is rude... first words out of the person at reception was "you don't get breakfast", instead of welcome. Hotel staff would pass in the lobby - no smile, no hello. Not a welcoming feeling at all. Our room was at the front of the hotel and quite noisy because there is an ambulance dispatch across the way. Rooms were ok - clean and comfortable, but at the end of the day, people make the difference.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not at the front of the hotel to avoid noise.

Just got back from trip to Italy, Rome/Florence, had bad stay in Rome but the Hotel Roma was very plesant, the staff was very accommidating, especially Betsy. Heard some people complaining about the noise but our room was perfect. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Ask about noise level and they may recommend specific rooms

After spending one awful night in another hotel nearby, we resolved to find a better one the next morning. We did. The Hotel Roma. The rooms were spotless, filled with light, clean, air conditioned (real air conditioning!) spacious and very relaxing. The staff were outstanding, particularly the lovely Elizabeth and Roberto. Professional, approachable and willing to go the extra mile to please guests. The breakfast staff were terrific, always with a smile on their face, always eager to make sure you had a great breakfast. The location was terrific, central to everything. We were actually overwhelmed with the good will shown to us by the wonderful staff at Hotel Roma. Highly recommend this hotel. Definitely 4 1/2 star!

The Hotel Roma is in an excellent location central to many local attractions as well as public transportation lines. We found the complimentary European style continental breakfast to be excellent. The temperature in the room was not the most comfortable, but it was rather warm during the time we were there and the A/C unit just couldn't keep up. The room itself was clean, but the bathroom did have some mold in the grout. We did have some difficulties getting ice to use for drinks in our room, but just chalked it up to the fact that most Europeans find ice to be unnecessary while most Americans expect it. We would be happy to stay in this hotel again.

We spent 3 days in Florence as part of an organized tour and found the Hotel Roma was very well placed. It is quite central and within easy walking distance to many of the attractions. Although in summer temperatures can go up to 38 degrees C so it's advisable to take the hop- on / off bus that follows either the red or blue line.
The hotel is nothing to shout about, but we enjoyed the spaciousness of the rooms as compared to most other 3 and 4 star hotels around Italy. The bathroom and toiletries were also 'superior' to
Other hotels in the same bracket. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.
The breakfast was lacking in many respects and we had to wait for our scrambled eggs to be made for up to 20 minutes.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor as the piazza outside can get quite rowdy on most Friday and Saturda...

Our first visit to this lovely city was complemented by this clean hotel full of Italian charm and character. Would definitely recommend and go again. All the staff were very helpful - in particular Elizabetta (Reception) who is everything one could wish for in a daughter (and employee). The location of this hotel couldn't be better. We had a great time wandering around the side streets and alleys bobbing in and out of little shops owned and used by local residents. The main attractions and high-end designer shops are also minutes away where we grabbed a few bargains during the sales (end-July/beg-Aug). Excellent restaurants and bars closeby and the train and bus station only a few minutes walk away. We went by local bus to Siena for a day for not a lot of money. Our room was a generous size with very comfortable beds and pillows - the crisp and cool white bedlinens were the perfect finish to a long day sightseeing.

I stayed at the Hotel Roma in February on business and will staying there again next week. The location was great, staff helpful, and the rooms clean. My only complaint was the charge for WiFi. The breakfast was lovely.
