I want to give this hotel a top score over all but I have decided, in the pursuit of excellence for the solo traveller, not to. I had the most exquisite room with floaty voile drapes around the bed, a separate sitting room and a large luxurious bathroom with an ever so slightly aggressive Jacuzzi bath. I had a balcony and french doors on one side and a view of the duomo on the other. It was all romantically floaty, veiled and shuttered and I loved it. The night views were gorgeous. Back down to earth, the location is fabulous - you can walk anywhere, to either side of the Ponte Vecchio and it is all romantic and delightful. Centuries ago the tower was buit as a prison for women but there are no spooky overtones or troubled hauntings. As a solo traveller my only knock is a poor room-service menu - when we will ever get anything other than a burger? It is just so difficult to eat in a restaurant on your own. Otherwise there is nothing to criticize.
