“Best Western remains a trusted chain”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014 via mobile

Hotel was very good, would have stayed longer if we could have, clean rooms and bathrooms, reasonable size, excellent breakfast and close to centre of Florence, only down side is hard beds and pillows.

Many thanks for this nice review which is important for us; concerning the beds we have orthopedic mattresses in our rooms but we have available also some soft mattresses and you could ask at the reception; the same thing for the pillows as in all our rooms there is a pillows menu which is much appreciated by our customers Hoping to see you again in Florence and at our Hotel, please accept our best regards. I stayed for a night in this hotel. It is situated quite far from the historical center, 20 minutes walk. You won't see any medieval or renaissance buildings around. It is inside a working class area. Typical ugly small concrete apartment buildings from 60s and 70s. The hotel has a big parking in the back and tourist bus area in front of it. I admit is ideal if you come with your car or if you are a tourist bus driver.

The historical center of Florence is a very safe safe place. However I would not say the same for the area of this hotel. After the closing of shops late the afternoon you have to be careful.

The railway station is not far away. The nearby cheap multiethnic restaurants for locals are very noisy during night. Please ask for a room as high as possible.

The hotel works mainly with big tourist groups. Because is convenient for the tourist offices. The groups if you are unlucky make the breakfast time unpleasant. You have to wait for a seat. The foods are not refilled fast. The bread and croissant are not fresh and the bacon below decent quality. The staff of breakfast is rude and teach the customers of what they suppose to do during breakfast. Not one of my happiest breakfasts.

The rooms don't have any view because there isn't any. They are clean, big with comfortable big beds. Doors, chairs and the floor is a little run down but I could live with that.

If you find a good price prefer this hotel and for god-shake don't pay extra money for breakfast.

Thank you for your comment left but I would like to clarify a few things: our hotel is very large and has 129 rooms but usually we host only one group per day because given our enviable location (only 10 minutes walk from the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio, no 20, and 3 minutes walking from the railway station of Santa Maria Novella), we prefer to work with individual customers who usually appreciates our services and our Hotel. Sincerely, Daniel Benelli Assistant Manager

We stayed 3 nights in June and had a very good experience. The hotel was well placed and the rooms and facilities were good. Service was also good and breakfast excellent. Recommended for a short stay.

We have been staying here over the past ten years and have always found it to be ideal as a base in Florence. It is very close to the Duomo and the River. There is a secure, lock up car park which we find essential as we always drive to Florence. We have stayed in the superior rooms and also standard rooms. There is a fridge and on request a kettle and tea making facilities. An iron and ironing board will also be provided if required but one of the best things which is a new addition, is that there is now a pillow menu. The hotel has just been re-decorated and it is all looking very good. An interesting fact is that the Happy Hour with half-price drinks lasts two hours from 5-7 pm !!! The American Bar is very pleasant. Only criticism are the awful hangers which you cannot take off easily!!!

Room Tip: Superior rooms are bigger but we find most rooms are pretty good and well equipped.

Well situated for the stations (train and bus) and just off the river so easy access to the bridges (Ponte Vecchio etc). Nice room, don't use wifi as last time I did (elsewhere) my email account was hacked. Friendly helpful staff and we had a couple of good breakfasts. Loads of good restaurants to eat at all in walking distance. Nothing special from the outside but nicely appointed inside. Recommended

The experience was overall unpleasant. Small rooms painted in orange/red with AC limited temperature. The staff quite unhelpful and abrupt, not what we expected. We were charged different rates of what was initially agreed, the difference being up to 90 euro per day, also charged a 30 euro for breakfast even thought we didn't have it there every day. The area is close enough to the centre however it gives you an unsafe feeling.
We do not recommend this hotel unless you are desperate for a room in Florence.

Out of all the hotels on my trip this one was probably the one at the bottom of the list. I would rate it as average. Especially considering the cost was not the lowest on the list. So I expected a bit more out of the hotel.

The rooms were small especially after the large one we had in Rome (which I know is not normal). We had a triple room which meant a single bedroom with two twin beds put together and a little cubby at the entrance to the room for a couch as the third bed. This third bed was right next to the door that attaches to the adjacent room. That door was a single wooden door so that meant I could hear people in the other room talking from my couch bed. Luckily they were not too loud at night. It was clean and well kept though.

For the location it is about a 10 min walk from the main train station, Santa Maria Novella, which we arrived from but it is away from the "action". The city center is about a 15-20min walk from the hotel which can be a hassle. In our case we arrived in Florence around 11am to check in. The hotel did not check us in because the check in time is 2pm. It was the only hotel that I had to deal with that this trip. That is fine, I understand why it happens, so we left our bags and went to explore the city.
We went around the city center (Duomo area) then walked back to the hotel to check in in the afternoon and then back out again for dinner since there is nothing immediately around the hotel. So it added up to some wasted time there.

The breakfast was standard, definitely nothing to write home about, but at least was included. WiFi is now included for free and that was one of the reasons why I chose the hotel. You have to get a room password from the front desk.

If I were to stay in Florence again I think I would look elsewhere especially at the price that I paid for the room.

Thanks for your review which is really important for us; I'm not happy when I see that you do not enjoeyed your stay but I would like to clarify something: our hotel is not located 10 minutes from Santa Maria Novella train station but about 300 meters away, about 2-3 minutes walking....maybe you took a wrong way to reach us. The Ponte Vecchio and the Cathedral are at about 10 minutes walking, not 15/20 minutes, Florence is a small town and all is at a walking distance from where weare located. It's normal if you arrive in the morning that the room will be not ready as our check out time is 12,00 o'clock and we guarantee all the rooms ready at 02,00pm (is indicated everywhere). Best reagrds. Daniele Benelli Assistant Manager
