“Central and friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Stayed here for couple of days on way back from villa stay in Tuscan countryside - so was looking for somewhere without the madness of tourists - this hit the mark. It's a bit tatty but we just couldn't help liking it. Staff were very friendly and welcoming, it has a pool (which we had to encourage them to open in an early wet but sunny weekend). It has a lovely rooftop bar with a great view over the city. It has some fabulous 70's touches in it's design (I'm guessing that was the last time it was completely refurbished) - it could almost be a hip hotel (it's not). It was clean and room cleaners were very thorough.

Well, this hotel is conveniently located and that is about what good we can conjure up or figure why it was fully booked!???

Linens are dusty and rooms over the street are not for the light sleeper. We had a split level room, with the bed/shower on one floor and suitcases on the other! Fun times!

My daughter had a garden view but there was painters tape around the run down cracked walls and she was eaten alive by black flies and red ants! We are seasoned travellers but the former nunnery leaves very much to be desired even by 1900AD standards. They are not even making an effort.

This is a pass; while there are a few updates of bathrooms but not overall rooms, especially dare I say mattreses! No screens on windows or bug control.

We travelled with others who also caught the scent in the stand up grout stained showers of the dear departed nuns of this former convent. The breakfast was improved after issues raised, but oh my greasy scrambled eggs and turned yoghurt! The pool was only nice to look at from the window. A fellow traveller was also eaten alive by bugs while trying to read poolside. At an adjacent hotel were patio but zappers and a much better fare!

It's time for a C di M renaissance in the rudimentary sense;must be the location why some of the reviews of this renaissance relic are positive. The website pics are quite deceiving. Left for Cimabue and later saw a Best Western River-well chosen and blended in Firenze architecture.

One very high praise to the fast moving (older) waiter. He is a gem; I went to the resto after it had closed to buy bottled water and unable to sleep due to noise (looked like hell) and was offered a welcome glass of red wine!

In the name of the F,S, and the HS! Amen!
Checking out!

Room Tip: Other Hotels (Liberty Style) or name brand in renaissance building - NOT HERE!!!

Dear Sir,
we are very sorry that you didn’t enjoy the stay in our hotel, and even more we regret to not have received your complain at the moment, in order to solve these inconvenience.

We have a lot of quiet rooms facing our inside garden where you could have moved to.

Our inside pool is a lovely place to relax being at the same time few steps far from the main interesting places to visit, unfortunately due to the past humid spring mosquitos were everywhere in Florence hopefully the situation will be better with the coming summer time.

Our main purpose is to take care of all our new and habitual customers which are always so numerous and appreciate a lot our rooms and our beautiful and spacious common area, that’s the reason why we are often full, by the way we will consider your critiques to improve the quality level of our hotel.

Best regards
Silvia Martella

The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes walk from the Duomo, restaurants and shopping. Our room was large, with 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. The upstairs bathroom was so tiny you could sit on the toilet and have your feet in the shower! The room was clean, and had enough toiletries and linens. The walls were extremely thin, however, and we had to resort to pounding on the walls to get the high-schoolers next door to quiet down at 3 a.m. We could hear everything!! Ugh! Breakfast was good-plenty of options to choose from. The best part of the hotel is the location, as mentioned before. It is not an upscale hotel by any means, but served our traveling needs adequately.

I do small group trips for one week in April and this year we went to Florence and La Spezia/Cinque Terre. Spent five nights here and it was very nice. All rooms seemed a little different in set up...ESP. Hair dryers, tub or shower etc. Typically European. Easy to walk most anywhere from here and the square only a few steps away was great at night. Breakfast left a bit to be desired, complicated by a few other larger tour groups who all descended at the same time and were quite pushy and self-centered. Coffee machine worked oddly. I would definitely go back though.

Lovely roof garden, terrace, with panoramic views of Florence . Breakfast was very nice with a good selection of choice. Reception staff very polite and attentive and helpful. Our room was fine although people in our group had some complaints about decor, upkeep of their rooms. The rooms are decorated in a moorish type style.
Diagonally Opposite the hotel entrance is a former monastery which is now a perfumery , apothecary , the architecture in this building is well worth viewing ,must see if you are staying in FLorence

Room Tip: Request a room with balcony, do not opt for a corner room as these are smaller and noisier, try to o...

This location is perfect for travellers using the train system
The room is good, not too small and staff were helpfull
Access to the main attractions is easy and we found the staff were helpfull enough to provide assistance to be able to get us around Florence.

Room Tip: A good tip, get a map when you leave the hotel, Florence is a maize

One of the best features of this hotel is the location, just a short walk from the train station and easy access to all of Florence. The rooms are clean, comfortable and we had an amazing view of Florence rooftops from our room. The hotel has a 4 star rating but in this case, that would be a stretch. The breakfast was just ok and the blow dryer in the room is the old style that attaches to the wall, resembling a vacuum hose. If you really need a blow dryer, bring one. The redeeming factor of this hotel is certainly the great location and the rate was far better than some areas closer into the heart of Florence yet still so close to all attractions.
