“Very Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

This was exactly what we wanted. room was very big which was handy for our small man to get around in. Pool was nice but pokey. breakfast was fine and there was enough of everything.
staff were very nice to us, they even let us try to print our boarding cards behind the desk.

We spent 3 nights in august and i have not much to complaint. Rooms are big and also the bathroom. Its pretty quiet even though you can ear the people next to your room. Its nice to have a pool, but they would have to fix little things here and there to make it perfect. but it didn't ruin my vacation. people at the reception are very nice. And the view on the terrasse its amazing. Close to the train station.

After having lived in Florence during undergraduate school, I was excited to bring my husband back 10 years later to explore everything the city has to offer.

Reasons we loved the hotel:
- We have a two floor loft room, with two bathrooms, which made it a very comfortable experience.
- It's very centrally located in Santa Maria Novella
- It's very clean and comfortable

Reasons it wasn't a 5 star rating:
- As I expected, it was a little loud at night because we were in Santa Maria Novella, where people tend to hang out.
- The front desk could have been a little more helpful. One day I had gotten a bad sun burn and asked if there was a pharmacy open at the time (it was 10pm and we had just gotten back from a Cinque Terre day trip). He totally dismissed me and gave no information. The bar tender heard my issue as I was telling it to the front desk and called me over after the front desk was no help, gave me ice and told me that the train station had a 24/7 pharmacy that could help me.

Very hard to find by car but the location is excellent once you get there, only 10 mins walking from the main monuments. The hotel has a private parking (25-30 euros a night depending on your car). There are many restaurants and shops to buy souvenirs right under the hotel which is extremely convenient.
We got the double room superior. It was two floors, two TVs and two bathrooms and was very beautiful. However, the AC would stay on the whole day while we were out even if we turned it off, which made it very cold when we got back. It also turned itself on at night which woke us up because it was so cold, and you could only turn it off downstairs (the bed was upstairs).
Also, when we returned to our room it smelt very badly, though only in the entrance.
The hotel advertises free WiFi everywhere. Our room was in the far corner of the hotel and we couldn't reach the WiFi with our phones, though it did work with our laptop.
We didn't visit the pool but it seemed very nice.
The breakfast was OK; water and juice were terrible but coffee was nice. There wasn't a wide selection of food but it was ok. The waiter who was cleaning the table next to us simply tossed the crumbs on the floor instead of cleaning them. They stayed there even after someone else sat there...
On the other hand the reception staff was very nice and helpful.
All in all it was a nice stay but we're not sure we'll be coming back.

My husband and i have just returned from a two week trip to Italy, the second week spent in Florence. Having read the reviews before i went i decided to ignore the couple of bad ones as you cant please everybody. I'm so glad i did. The staff were very helpful and friendly, there was plenty of choice at breakfast time and everything was fresh. The swimming pool and garden area was great and a good place to cool off after the summer heat. Our room was really spacious and clean, fresh towels everyday and kept so nice. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone going to Florence. The location is great, it's close to everything. The small mini mart opposite and the ice cream place on the corner are so cheap and the ice cream was the best in Florence. There is also a roof garden with the most amazing views. The only downside was the hall ways that maybe needed a coat of paint, but that was not a problem for me. I would go there again.

Room Tip: I noticed a few room with balconys that looked really nice.

While staying at six different hotels this past summer, Croce di Malta turned out to be one of the best. Even though Croce di Malta was an older hotel, our beautiful room, overlooking the pool and courtyard area, was fantastic!! What truly made this hotel one of the best was the friendly, very accommodating staff. We needed an ironing board and an iron in our room, we received it!! Not all hotels were this accommodating. We wanted to swim late at night, we were allowed to. When we wanted drinks, no matter what time, Valentino was there to serve us. I need to add that we loved Valentino!!!! Thank you for making our stay very relaxing!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the hotel room on the second floor that overlooks the pool and courtyard area!!!

Stayed at this nice hotel on Treyn holiday but although ideally situated near train station and centre of Florence the hotel is showing a distinct lack of care. The outdoor garden and pool could be a beautiful area but it lacks any attention from the owners.
The hotel has a roof top bar which is only open 1700 to 2000hrs which is a real pity.
The breakfast is ghastly with an offering of coffee which is undrinkable.
Rooms on the front are very noisy although substantial shutters kep out most of the noise.
Overall a disappointing transit hotel
