Rented a 2 bedroom/1 bath with Apartments Florence. Had a good experience with the company though they were slightly hard to get a hold of prior a couple of days before my family and I arrived in Florence. I attribute this mostly to the very relaxed nature of the Italians.
Upon arrival, we checked in with Matteo, a rep from Apartments Florence who met us outside the property. The 2nd floor apartment, Lucrezia Borgia, was very good size though there really isn't a lounge area to it. The kitchen dominates the room as does the very large dining table, there is a couch/futon on the side wall and a small tv and that's it for the main room.
The two bedrooms are off this main room - one with a full bed, the other with with two single beds. The room with the two single beds was spaced out nicely so that my brother and I had our own area in the room. One bed was by the door and the window, the bed was in the back of the room separated by an arched cabinet. (See Pics). Both rooms had ample storage space.
The big bonus that I was not expecting when we booked the apartment was the private outside terrace! It was the perfect place to enjoy the warm evenings in Florence and listen to the sounds of Florentine life. Al fresco dining every day! Best part of the apartment, hands down. (Though I did notice there were only a couple of units terraces... so if you stay here, make sure to specify.)
Dimore La Vecchia Firenze is next to Santa Croce which is buzzing with tourists during the day, but at night, it has a very local neighborhood feel. (Baldovino, right on the corner of Borgo Allegri, has delicious food.) It's walking distance to the city center... about 10 mins to the Palazzo Vecchio and Ponte Vecchio. If you arrive by train, I do not recommend walking to Dimore La Vecchia Firenze from the station. It's a fairly short and inexpensive cab ride from the station.
The one major complaint I had about staying here: the inventory list! When I was sorting out the paperwork and deposits, etc with Matteo when we checked in, we had to go through each and every item on the inventory list and count every item to make sure they were all accounted for - spoons, forks, glasses, pots and pans, paintings on the wall, lamps, wire hangers in the closets - wire hangers!! It was outrageous, even Matteo thought it was a bit excessive - but it was part of the of the contract so he had to and he wanted to make sure we were not held responsible for any unaccounted for items. (Matteo is not affiliated with the actual establishment, just the rental company - the Dimore manager was not there to check us in to the apartment. We met her the next day - her office is by the main entrance. She also will give you fresh towels and sheets if needed.)
No air condition or fans - that I remember. My family and I stayed in mid May and there was no need to for them - just the open windows were perfect. Also, no washer/dryer in the apartment. We did not have to do laundry during our stay so there may be some onsite.
Bonus: There is a lift! A very small one, but a lift all the same.
We had a great stay at Dimore La Vecchia Firenze and would book that same apartment when we someday return to Florence.
