“Great place if you need a break from Italian food...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

After many (albeit wonderful) meals of pasta, pasta, pizza, secondi's and more pasta, we needed a bit of a change in our week in Florence. This place was just next to our apartment, and we were initially hesitant about how good the food quality would be.
Reassuringly the staff were Japanese, however the place was empty apart from us! Nonetheless the food was great (Tempura Soba, Teppanyaki Salmon, Mountain Vegies) - good quality and fresh though perhaps slightly pricey (but not overly so). Decor and atmosphere were beautiful.
An added bonus was trying the extensive non-Japanese dessert menu - was choosing between Banana Fritta (fritters) & Banana Caramellata, and had the latter which was amazing - imagine a toffee apple but hot and with bananas instead!
Definitely recommended.

“Over-rated and over-priced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012 via mobile

Although they serve sushi, this restaurant is more Chinese than Japanese, and it shows. On the day I went, they had no tuna (??????????). And they seem to think there is nothing wrong with the fact that they charge €15 for 12 pieces of tuna and salmon sashimi, and also €15 for 9 pieces of salmon sashimi. When questioned, I got a silence followed by a mumbled explanation that they were "different thing". I had the sashimi, and a nigiri mix. Tiny amount of sushi for €28, but what I had was of fair quality. Ok I guess if you're prepared to pay well over the odds and put up with sulky service.

“Wonderful Sushi, one will not go wrong eating at this restaurant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

Fresh and light quality food, it was spot on every bite. Authentic sushi that did not feel commercialized or changed to a European style (i.e. Germany likes dill on their sushi). English speaking but not dedicated parking. Kid friendly and great ambiance, it is a great alternative if one is tired of Italian food while in Florence.

“Need a break from Italian?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012 via mobile

We found this restaurant via T.A. and realized that it was steps away from our hotel, the L'Orologio. The restaurant was dimly lit and offered both tables and tatami seating. Our hotel called ahead to confirm that the restaurant used sunflower oil in their fryer-safe for our nut-allergic son. The other sushi restaurant we visited near the Palazzo Vecchio used peanut oil so we couldn't eat there. My son had fried tofu with rice - yummy. My husband had udon and I had a tuna hand roll and a dragon roll. All were tasty and offered a nice change from 10 days of straight Italian. Yes, it's hard to believe, but we needed a break! I would recommend this friendly little restaurant if you need one, too.
