“There is so much to see in Florence!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Bus #13 stops at this square where the Museo di San Marco is located. #13 follows a circular route around the periphery of the old city, over a bridge and up the hill to Piazzale Michaelangelo, down the hill, over the river on a different bridge, and to the train station, then back to the Museo de San Marco. The ride is free with a Firenze Card.

There is so much to see in Florence that time is always a factor. I have to give this museum a three star rating because there is so much else to see in Florence as well. Make sure you see Santa Croce and Santa Maria Novella! And the Opera at the Duomo. If you have time come here to the Museo di San Marco. The monks' cells are interesting, each with a Fra Angelico, and other of his beautiful works are in the museum area.

The museum is free with the Firenze Card.

“serene”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

A little bit off the main tourist area of Florence, this church is still incredibly serene. You can walk through some of the street merchants to get there, which I found a lot of fun, or you can walk along the water past the immense library.

“Peaceful and wondrous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Wandering the grounds, cloisters and monastic cells of this former monastery, it feels less like a museum experience than a quiet time out in Florence. But that's not meant to underplay the incredible work you will see there -- the Fra Angelico frescoes are simple yet moving. Over doorways, or providing the lone decoration in the monk cell's upstairs, the frescoes tell stories that transcend time. Don't miss the library, where besides some ancient illuminated codex on display, there is an explanation on how this literary art was created. Can be visited in an hour or two.

“Wonder!”

This is a beautiful place to visit, open only in the mornings but a real delight - beautiful frescoes by Fra Angelico in the most charming settings - probably the site I liked most in Florence

“Well worth visiting”

The gorgeous art inside the museo plus the fascinating lives of the Medici's make this an excellent choice for a visit.
