“San Marco”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2012

A bit reminiscent of boarding school although the monks had larger cubicles and better pictures! We loved the sense of peace about the monastery, the relative simplicity and the wonderful colours in all the Fra Angelico frescoes.

“Not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We stumbled upon this gem and were very pleased. Got a sense of history while touring the monastery with the cells for monks and nuns with fragments of frescoes on each wall.

“A must see, the Gates of Paradise are newly displayed in a beautiful glass box”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The museum is not as busy as others, and has some beautiful treasures, apart from the Doors of Paradise, e.g. Maria Maddalena by Donatello and a stunning silver altar piece recently renovated

“The Frescoes are Sublime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

This museum is just a few metres from the "home of David " in the Academy. It is a wonderful building with cloisters and cells of the former convent. The construction of the building is fascinating in itself but the artwork in the individual cells is amazing. The quality of preservation is fabulous with vivid colours. This must be one of the best value visits in Florence and well worth an hour or two of anyone's time

“Fra Angelico”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

What a wonderful museam, probably one of my favorite. I loved seeing the Fra Angelico frescoes in real life. They were better than I had even anticipated.
