“Frescos & Savonarola”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Hauntingly beautiful fresco's of various bible stories starring St. Dominic. You can really get a feel for the history of this former monastery. Don't miss "bonfire of the vanities" Savonarola's living area & artifacts.

“Stunning Fra Angelico frescoes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

This is one of my favourite places in Florence. The 15th century frescoes in each of the convent's cells are not to be missed.

“Fra Angelico heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This former monastery with cloisters is beautiful in its own right. Add the Fra Angelico frescoes in the monks' cells, and it doesn't get much better. Savonarolla's cell is one of the many you can tour. And the Annunciation by Fra Angelico at the entrance to the floor with the monks' cells is breathtaking.

“Savonarola's relics”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Although the museum is famous for frescoes by Fra Angelico, we went especially to see the relics associated with Savonarola. The painting of his execution, his robe and hair shirt, and the painting of Savonarola by Fra Bartolomeo are worth the price of admission. The museum isn't crowded so entry is no problem.

“A Florentine highlight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

The collection of Fra Angelico's is delightful and the connection with Savaranola (all is now forgiven, it seems) makes San Marco a very interesting place historically. The librarium is also fascinating, providing marvellous glimpses into how the Bible and other books were preserved before the printing press came along.
