“Grand city views -”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Beautiful city views after a climb up MANY steps above Piazzale Michaelanglio. Very lovely cemetary & cloisters - a quiet respite area above a busy city. We walked down along sloping roadways so a much easier walk back to the city.

“Worth it just for the view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

The climb up wasn't easy, had it been summer I'd have taken the bus. However, we discovered a rose garden on the way up with interesting modern sculptures, not too many roses at this time of year, but probably lovely when they're in bloom. We reached the top, and found what has to be the best view over Florence.
The church itself was disappointing. It was so badly lit that we couldn't see very much at all, but it looked as if it would be very impressive with electricity! The graveyards around the church, especially the one at the back ( turn right out of the church, turn right under the arch, and go round to the back, are fascinating.

“One of the highlights of Florence, very characteristic church from 11th century”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

This church has one of the nicest interiors of all in Florence. It's a very characteristic church from the 11th century, the paintings are made of wood and there are a lot of delicate decorations on it, on top of the altar is very beautifull mosaics, a room right besides the altar has paintings on the wall that belong to the nicest ones in florence, in one of the swidechapels there is beautifull emaille-work. A must see in Florence, close to Piazzale Michelangelo, nicer interior than the Duomo!

“Sandwiches?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

As you stroll your way up to the Basilica you'll notice young people chomping on delicious looking Italian sandwiches. Look up the sandwich shop called All'Antico Vinaio. Stop by, grab a sandwich (best in the world) and enjoy a leisurely walk and the great view at the Basilica. Best way to spend a sunny afternoon in Florence.
