The center of historical Florence, it must be seen and enjoyed leisurely, even if there are masses of tourists from all parts of the world. Find a place, sit and feast your eyes!

Tip 1: You wouldn't know whats going on with this Piazza if you don't know the history. Just like us, we didnt know the history so we download Rick Steve audio guide mp3 podcast and it helped us understand the history of this piazza, very interesting!

Tip 2: Beware of pickpockets!

Tip 3: The replica statue of David is just right here, it is almost as real as the real one, so dont bother going to the main museum - Gallery of the Academy of Fine Arts because its a waste of money

Tip 4: There is nothing much to do in this Piazza except admiring the marble statues. Move on to Uffizi or Ponte Vecchio if your bored.

We emerged into this piazza from one of the small side streets and were at once amazed by how large and how beautiful it is. Of course, there is the copy of the statue of David with lots of people posing beside it, but there are so many other beautiful statues... and the fountain.....and the palaces! We stood for ages just staring up at the buildings - you can see so much (there is a lion crawling up a spire on the top of one of the buildings!) You really felt like you were in a totally unique place here - you must go and see it!!

And so many treasures to enjoy in one place! The monumental statues and fountain of Neptune are impressively displayed in this wonderful outdoor space that is a central tourist attraction yet never too crowded in my experience (but I haven't visited in summer, it might be different then). The David replica is a big hit as visitors love to take their picture next to it.
