“My favorite Piazza!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

You have to sit where you can take all in, I sit in one of the outdoor caves, order Persecco, they bring you a wonderful bowl of olives and other goodies. I have also ordered, bruschetta with tomatoes and melon with Italian ham. It's really a treat you shouldn't miss.

“One of the most beautiful Piazza's in Italy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

The only drawback is the simple number of tourists! Would love to come back in the off-season with a little bit more elbow room! My companion almost got pick-pocketed here, so maybe that's why I'm only giving it four stars instead of five.

“Fantastic free-viewing of art, architecture and sculpture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2012

You can't get better than this for your money - i.e. it's free!!

The style and atmosphere of this busy square is impeccable. There are amazing sculptures and a huge fountain, incredible architecture (the Pallazzo Vecchio included) and as long as you don't mind paying a few extra euros, an abundance of restaurants to sit and watch it from.

Go into the Pallazzo even if you don't want to pay to go round it because there is the most incredible ground floor courtyard in there that is completely free.

Go to the Gucci Museum - it's great if you're vaguely interested in fashion. (10 euros).

If you've watched Hannibal (as in Lector - not the ancient warrior guy) you've seen this area, not least because he pushes Inspector Pazzi out of the window here (with his innards hanging out!!!!!)

It would be hard not to pass through it if you are walking in Florence but make it a destination for at least half to an hour.

Great sculptures, great people watching. I liked sitting there and taking it all in. Good photo opportunities. And some nice shopping if you have the money....

“Renaissance Sculpture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

Check out Giambolgna's "Abduction of the Sabine Women," an incredible spiraling work of nude mannerist sculpture on the corner of the plaza next to the Palazzo Vecchio.
