Toured in November, 2007. Large square located in front of the Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi Museum. Has several original statues making it an outside museum. Great place to sit and enjoy the scenery. One of my favorite spots in Florence.
Has several originals including Cellini's Perseus with the head of Medusa, the Neptune Fountain, the Rape of the Sabines, Hercules and others. Many of these are under a covered area and protected from the elements. Also has a replica of Michelangelo's David which was added to the spot where the original had stood for years (original moved to the Academia when it was discovered that David was being damaged by the weather).
Great place to stop...especially since it's free!
