“A nice surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We hadn't intended to go to the Palazzo Vecchio initially, but found ourselves with some free time and decided to give it a whirl (it helped that the entry fee was covered by the Firenze card).

Having been, I'd definitely recommend it! The inside is stunningly beautiful, starting with a lovely little courtyard just as you walk through the entrance. The highlight is the room on the first floor (Salone dei Cinquecento) with its ridiculously ornate ceiling, but the rest - including the apartments upstairs - are also worth a look.

You can also climb the battlements (your ticket has to include this, it is free with the Firenze card) for a slightly different view of Florence.

“A must”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

There are many great places that have to be visited in Florence but Palazzo Vecchio is a must! An attraction even for the Locals. Unfortunately some of the rooms are closed as they are used by the Mayor of the city.

“Snap Happy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

Perfect spot for viewing beautiful architecture and history and for being very snap happy with the camera.

It was a lot quieter out of season but it was still nice to sit/ marvel at the place. Go there about 8pm to see the statues lit up and listen to a local flute player nearby making the scene extra romantic.

You may feel a little left out if you're not in a couple!

“Another Wow! spot in Florence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

The Palazzo Vecchio is adjacent to the Uffizi and is the location of the most photographed statue of michelangelo’s David (even though it is a replica. The real David has been moved to the Accademia and photography is forbidden.) Part of Palazzo Vecchio is an outdoor museum host to a few statues. WARNING, although it is a perfect place to sit down and enjoy lunch, no food or drinks is permitted on the museum area. And the Italian volunteers will promptly make that known to any visitors enjoying their lunch.

The rest of the Palazzo is an open area with a nice view and surrounded by restaurants and shops.

“Palazzo Vecchio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2013

I visited Florence with family in April. This was my second trip to Florence and second visit to the Palazzo. The outside of the building is attractive and surrounded in the Piazza by sculptures and a lovely fountain. The rooms inside are beautifully decorated and the Salone dei Cinquecento is amazing. A must-see for lovers of art and museums!
