“Highly Recomended”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012 via mobile

What's not to like about Hotel Lungarno? Wonderful location, friendly staff, rooms with postcard views, great lounge and all the old world atmosphere you can handle. If your a runner check with the front desk for maps detailing runs of varying lengths. The only nit I would have is the lack of a workout facility otherwise this hotel is on our repeat list.

“Best view, best location, best staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

We stayed here instead of the Four Seasons, and were so glad that we did. The hotel, owned by the Faragamo shoe family, has the feel of a small boutique hotel and the staff treats you like you are the only ones in the hotel. Our room was small, but the view was incredible--right on the Arno River with beautiful view of the Ponte Vecchio. The bed and linens were luxurious, and the cleaning service was prompt. We liked this side of the Arno River, which seemed a little less hectic and loud.
Like many hotels in Europe, the hotel cuts off the AC sometime during October. To get enough cool air we had to leave the big sliding glass door open, which resulted in many mosquitoes by morning. Being from Florida and enduring mosquitoes most of the time, this would be a deal breaker at any other hotel in the states. But despite being bitten during the night, we decided that the hotel was well worth the bother. (And the mosquitoes weren't quite so painful as the ones in Florida tend to be.)
Breakfast each morning was bountiful and delicious, as well as unhurried. We were able to take in the view of the Ponte Vecchio and the skyline of the city while we sipped cappuccinos.
The staff took great care to ask about our welfare each day and to help prepare any reservations that we needed. We definitely plan to return to Florence and to the Hotel Lungarno.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Arno River are beautiful and sunny. I am sure higher rooms have an even better view of...

“Business like this is always pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

Leave your expectations at the door, and just surrender to the quiet calm of a classic Italian home away from home.

You will require no anxiety, or expectations because your needs if not anticipated by a helpful service team member; will just seem to take care of them selves automatically.

Close to everything, walking distance close, unless you are day tripping then a cab is always around the corner.
Otherwise, right on the Arno, down the block from the Ponte Vechio, which is around the corner from the Pitti Palace, which is also around the corner from the Market.

Try to have at least one evening meal at the hotel, although this will be hard because the Lungarno is so well positioned among the best 'The Capitol Of The World' has to offer.

I am a Buyer; I work long days on overseas markets.
It is so appreciated to walk back into the hotel room and find the bed turned and a buonanotte stella..........................on the mat by the bed.

If you have problems with noise, request, well in advance a room on the river. Rooms on the road side echo until the weee' hours with Lambretti.
Me? I am nuts, I love it........but I certainly understand anyone requiring complete silence.

This is a classic Italian experience and one that can be romantic, restful or in my case restorative................for me it is always a bit like ; If this is Tuesday I must be in Belgium.

That said, next is the Principa Savoia in Milan...........

Room Tip: As I said in the review. If you are a bear about quiet, you must select in advance a river side room...

“the most beautiful stay in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2012

We have decided to come in Italy and when we travel we look for memorable experience and this is one of those. In this hotel we were greeted very well since checked in and we realized that we were in a hotel where the customer is at the center and before anything else. Finally a hotel where the service is up to the beauty of Florence. Our room was at the sixt floor and the view from the room was amazing, from the terrace of 655 we could see the duomo in front of us and the ponte vecchio at our right.
Family ferragamo is owned by the hotel and the service is up to the reputation of the great fashion company. If you stays at this hotel you have the opportunity to visit the museum ferragamo free of charge...at the front desk Lorenzo give us a welcome letter to enter there and he took care of us through out our stay and he gave us a three day itinerary that was perfect in what we saw, resturants which he made reservations for us and a perfect pace for the day.all the concierge are great!!!
we booked this hotel with american express travel so the hotel included us a wonderful breakfast made in a room overlooking the river. The bar is also amazing we took great cocktail made by the barman Andrea that it was perfect. Enjoy this hotel!!!

“Best room I've ever had in Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Florence is a great tiny town on the Arno, and this is fabulous hotel in the dead center of town. The place is in a "new" post-war building, so it doesn't seem as renaissance as everything else in Florence. We were able to upgrade to one of the upstairs suites, with a full couch, large bath, and outside terrace with seating for six. The place was gorgeous, and the staff friendly, fun, and humorous -- they will entertain your terrible Italian like gallant gentlemen. There is a downstairs restaurant (Borgo San Jacopo) that serves as breakfast nook by day and culinary hotspot by night. I would stay in this hotel every time I visit Florence, if I could.
