“Great hotel in Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at the St. Regis in Florence. The rooms were beautiful, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the location (walking distance to all the main attractions) was hard to beat. The breakfast in the morning was luxurious, and the evening champaign reception was an excellent touch. Only thing that wasn't perfect is that we struggled to figure out how to work the thermostat.

Dear Edward H, Thank you for sharing with us your kind words of appreciation and your experience with the thermostat in the room, the use of which should be fairly intuitive, but your precious comment is for us a reason to think more on how to improve its functionality. And allow me to remind that for everything our customers do not want to do, cannot do or do not know to do there is always a Personal Butler ready to do it. We look forward to welcoming you again for another indelible stay. Ombretta - The Lobby Butler

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

We have just returned from a two night stay.

I booked this hotel based on TA reviews and had high expectations of top end opulence and luxury which we decided to indulge in to go in hand for our first Florence experience.....St Regis partially fit the bill.

The hotel decor and service is grand and our room was nice and spacious and we appreciated the TV screen in the bathroom mirror.

A bottle of sparkling wine was also waiting for us in our room when we returned on our first day which was a nice touch.

Each evening a glass of champagne and an Oyster was included in our stay.

Breakfast was good.

For the high end rate we paid for a double room we were not happy that in fact we had two single beds pushed together with no attempt to disguise the gap with a top mattress. This was appalling. We should have complained as it affected sleep quality. There was no view from our room, but we were not in Florence to look out of the hotel window, although river facing would have been very nice and may have enhanced our experience of St Regis.

Concierge service was excellent. We sent a request ahead of our arrival to see the statue of David and the hotel arranged priority tickets which meant no queuing. A friend booked and faxed over tickets confirmations for the Galleria which we promptly received via concierge when we returned from Pisa.

The location was very good, easy to walk to all the main attractions and get the train to Pisa Central.

We were recommended to go to 13 Gobbi for dinner by concierge (for a kick back no doubt as our name went on a list) but apart from the rock hard bread it was excellent.

In the evenings we enjoyed after dinner drinks outside on the roof terrace of the sister hotel opposite.

WIFI was chargeable at St Regis even though we are now in 2013.

There was no iron in the room and the cost was €9+ to have each shirt pressed (probably why we saw a couple of guests in creased t-shirts!)

In our personal opinion St Regis did not match up to other top end hotels we have stayed at even though it was actually the most expensive. I can't pinpoint what it was, it might have been that the hospitality did not feel genuine and was a bit pretentious, but our whole experience generally didn't feel refined. I regret not going with our original choice of Palazzo Magnani Feroni.

Florence is beautiful.

Room Tip: River facing. If choosing a double room make sure it isn't two single beds pushed together!

Dear LONDONMANIA, we are glad you experienced all the luxury services we offer to our guests and allow us to explain the we have few rooms with two single beds and to avoid the the gap between them we use a luxury extra top mattress. The WIFI connection is free in all the lobby area and our restaurants and due to a local legislative regulation against fire prevention we are not allowed to provide in the guests' rooms an iron. Sincerely, Ombretta - The Lobby Butler

The St Regis is without doubt one of the finest hotels I have visited in Europe. The location is stunning, rooms luxurious and tastefully decorated but above all the service from the staff is impeccable. The only slight negative is the lack of a pool but not a big issue. I already look forward to returning one day

while the hotel was very nice our recent stay Jul 1 and 2, 2013 there is something sad about a luxury hotel that can NOT afford a FRESH BREAKFAST. All pastries and all fruits where old. How can this be possible. Great place to stay but if given a choice avoid the breakfast. Management must be aware of this. It is not acceptable for a hotel of this statue.

Dear Alexios V, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and allow us to assure you that everyday we prepare fresh bread and croissants, also because in Italy there are laws and strict controls on food preservation in public places like hotels and restaurants. I have stayed a many different hotels in Florence over the years, however this hotel would have to be one of the best I have stayed in worldwide, and definitely in Florence.

The reasons - perfect location on the Arno river, large beautifully classically decorated rooms, spotlessly clean, incredible service (always a yes, nothing too difficult), Virtuoso extras made you feel you were getting good value for the price with breakfast included plus other extras. Professional check in experience, even though we arrived at a busy time.
The hotel is expensive, but I feel it is worth every cent, and I do not feel I overpaid - it was all worth it, our experience of Florence was so much enhanced by staying here. We had 2 rooms as my husband and I are travelling with 2 of our 20 something children, both rooms were superb, with large bathrooms, the best amenities I've experienced (same as St Regis NYC), luxurious towels, comfortable bed and a lovely bowl of fruit on arrival. Oh, and I shouldn't forget our butler, Andrea, a delightful and helpful young man.
Our stay was short, just 2 days, but I am missing it already.

Room Tip: Highly recommend a Arno river room, the view was just beautiful.

I will keep this review short and to the point: this hotel was exceptional in every way. Amazing location, beautiful, clean, luxurious rooms, and a staff that is courteous and helpful beyond belief.

Our time in Florence was brief, so we wanted to make the most of it. We arrived by train from Rome around 10 AM, and the concierge personally booked our tickets to the Uffizi (pulling some strings and getting us in on a reservation for some other hotel guests that had cancelled earlier). Without his help, we would not have been able to see this incredible museum. He also helped us get reservations later that day for the Galleria dell'Accademia , to see the David. I highly recommend utilizing the concierge to set up reservations.

It was our anniversary trip, so we were provided with a complimentary bottle of Champaign and a lovely note from the staff. Our room was absolutely beautiful, with a comfortable bed, and a courtyard view from which we could see the Duomo.

Also, they recommended we go next door to the Westin for drinks on their rooftop balcony, which offered exceptionally gorgeous views of Florence.

If you are looking to go all out, and receive unbelievable service in an insanely beautiful city, the St. Regis is the hotel for you!

Dear SAHarrell, Allow us to thank you for the beautiful words wrote on how is exceptional the St. Regis Flroence in every way. A part the amazing location and the luxurious rooms, we are glad to hear you found the staff courteous and helpful beyond belief. We perfectly know how busy is Florence (especially in summer time) and how hard could be find a reservation and avoid the long lines to enter the most important Museums in town. For this reason, our Concierge is very helpful: our team has privileged contacts through which often they can do wonders. Sincerely, Ombretta - The Lobby Butler
