“Perfect Stay in Florence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

My family recently stayed at the St. Regis for two nights while touring italy. We typically prefer to stay at Four Seasons properties when we travel but were unable to stay at the Four Seasons in Florence as it was completely booked. I will say, the St. Regis did not disappoint!--from the warm and welcoming check in (I can not think of the name of the woman who checked us in, but she could not have been more pleasant and helpful!), to the amazing (upgraded) rooms overlooking the Arno, the kind staff, the great location and delicious breakfast. Pricey, but worth it! (Also, don't miss drinks atop St Regis sister hotel Westin across the street for amazing view of Florence)

The St. Regis in Florence tops our list for the most beautiful hotel ever, with the best service! It is worth it just for the phenomenal location, along the Arno so that it is easy to get anywhere in the city, and for its complete and beautifully presented breakfast buffet which is located on a balcony area which overlooks the stunning downstairs dining room. Enjoy and stay as long as possible.

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful (we had four in our group) but one with a view over the Arno River is partic...

First of all my husband and I walked from the train station to the hotel. I was surprised at the traveler who said this hotel was inconvenient. The location is fabulous! Yes, three bridges down thank God so you don't step into crowds of tourists but are a ten minute walk, big deal.
The hotel is absolutely magnificent! The entrance is quite modern but the bar/ dining area has the most incredible stained glass, it's a soaring atrium and quite romantic and sensual, which is funny since the building was originally a convent! Right catty corner to the hotel is the convent of San Marco which houses Ghirlandaio's Last Supper, a masterpiece must see, and iI mean it's ten steps away!! We kept remarking on how central the hotel was to everything, we passed the duomo and the Uffizi constantly.

The personnel were attentive, knowledgable and very helpful. The women at the guest reception desk were lovely and welcoming. The concierges made reservations for dinner, the Uffizi, the David, and armed us with maps. Our rooms made us feel like Medicis, with the sumptuous awning and bedspread. Our room was small and lovely, and faced the Arno. The view of the houses, hills, and cedars looked like a Florentine painting. I just couldn't stare enough. We have nothing but praise and would return again(soon, please!) but as others have said, full disclosure, we used points but that was a money saver for us and did nothing to affect the service, convenience and beauty of this hotel. Thank you for a memorable stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view if possible

Dear Lisa C, thank you for pointing out some of our strenghts. The Location: just a leisurely stroll away from The St. Regis Florence are sights such as the Uffizzi Gallery, the iconic Duomo and the famed jewelry shops on the Ponte Vecchio to name a few. Our rooms: whether it is a deluxe or suite, our rooms are designed to feel welcoming, comfortable and elegant. Each room recalls the glory of the 15th century. Just to give an example: the Florentine style luxurious rooms are adorned with coffered ceilings, frescoes and brocades; the Medici style rooms are light coloured and recall the colors of the Tuscany's wine. Sincerely, Ombretta - The Lobby Butler

We just returned back to the states from a 2 week trip to Italy. The St. Regis in Florence was by far the BEST hotel we stayed in. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are so comfortable - especially the bed. We were upgraded upon arrival to a butler serviced room over looking the river which was wonderful. It also included the champagne service at night which was very interesting (watch how they open the champagne with a sword!) The breakfast buffet is everything you could imagine and the level of service from everyone is alsolutely top notch. This is truly a 1st class property and if you get the chance to stay there - you won't be sorry.

We miss it already and hope to be able to return one day again.

St Regis was phenomenal!! The room was excellent, and the service even more. Our last morning morning my wife and I were grabbing breakfast and I called the front desk to request our luggage be taken downstairs because we had a tight schedule to catch the train. After breakfast we saw no one had taken our luggage down. We started to do it on our own, and ran into an employee, who upon hearing that our luggage was not taken, apologized profusely and watched our bags while she made sure someone brought it down to the front desk. She then apologized again (multiple times) saying that this was not acceptable to their standards for someone to not bring our bags down, and on top of that asked us to choose any book from their library of books as a free consolation gift. My wife and I were simply taken aback by the level of service!

Dear Gurav V, it's a great satisfaction for us to know that you were pleasantly surprised about our level of service and that you appreciated our way to recover a "critical" situation as the urgency of having the guests bags ready in reception because there is the rush to catch a schedule train. The guests time is precious for us. Sincerely, Ombretta - The Lobby Butler

Dear miami p, thank you for sharing your appreciation for our beautiful hotel, rooms and unbelievable Reception Area and Library. About the food, allow me to thank you
for giving us a different point of view and to invite you to contact me personally in order to understand why it did not meet your expectations, especially because a few months ago our kitchens are home to an award-winning chef, Mrs. Piccini from "da Caino"Restaurant (2 Stars Michelin • 3 Forks Michelin Guide). From start to finish this hotel surpassed all our expectations.
The staff were gracious, kind and helpful.
The reception area as you enter the hotel is very warm and inviting beautifully furnished with charming staff. Outside is a small terrace on the street but a place to watch the people pass and be close to the River Arno.
We had a magnificent junior suite with a double balcony over looking the river where we spent many lovely hours either eating breakfast or drinking our complimentary drinks.
The rooms are decorated with frescos and luxuriously furnished making it a very enjoyable place to come home to after many hours of walking around Florence.
Our only criticism if we had to make one was the very large and a bit soulless salon/ bar, it again was well furnished but lacked any natural light and was always empty but don't let this put you off.
The location of the St Regis was a 6 minute walk into the heart around the Duomo which was packed so it was a joy to be a little out of the crowds.
The concierge were extremely helpful and always welcoming you not just by name but with a smile and Julianna our butler was exceptional in every way.
We would absolutely return to this wonderful hotel.

Room Tip: If you can afford do go for a view over looking the river as it is truly magnificent. Michaelangelo...

Dear Juicylucy1066, your amazing words well interpret our deep pride in representing a "must" in Italy: the scenic St. Regis Florence has been the preferred stop of seasoned travelers since the 18th Century and it's still a must for those that aspire to an unrivaled immersion into the cradle of the Renaissance. And we understand the sensation you felt facing our roomy Winter Garden, a Florentine masterpiece that combines history and a sophisticated renovation, with its Murano chandeliers and hand painted frescoes: the perfect location where also the most hesitant guests in front of such opulence do not lose the opportunity to taste our Signatures St. Regis Ritual: the Bloody Mary, The Tea and The Champagne Rituals. Immensely grateful, Ombretta - The Lobby Butler
