5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2010

This hotel was beautifully restored yet the room was modern and brand new. A definite positive was that it was quiet. The rooms faced towards a courtyard. The location is great, just down the street from the Duomo. The staff was helpful and very accommodating. Stay here when you are in Florence!

The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable, stylish and clean. Although breakfast was a buffet style it was plentiful, with a good choice and served in a beautiful room with ornate frescoes on the cieling. The hotel is in a very good location within 3 min walking distance from piazza duo homo.
Best value for money. Ideal for couples.
Minor issue some noice form the coridor during morning hours.

Immediately upon booking, the hotel staff contacted us via e-mail to welcome us and offer their services to help make our stay comfortable. I requested a large, quiet room and they delivered. Our room exceeded our expectations. It was HUGE and very well appointed with a new modern bathroom. We were welcomed with a complimentary bottle of Chianti. Paolo made reservations in advance of our stay at the Uffizzi for us and helped several times with dinner reservations. The hotel is located on the second floor of an historic building close to the center of Florence; an easy walk to all of the major sites, shopping, central market, leather factories, museums and churches. Prior to the hotel opening this summer, this property had been a private residence since its construction in the 1700's. The architecture is absolutely beautiful. Incredible carved doors, mouldings and original frescoes on all of the ceilings especially in the breakfast room. We had a very early departure at 4am and Marco was quick to fire up the espresso machine for us. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. We will definitely stay again.

This hotel is small and newly refurbished to a high standard. There is no restaurant but it has a bar and small lounge area, and a very nice breakfast room with painted ceilings. The staff are friendly and helpful and we found it to be good value for money and perfectly located for a long weekend with friends. There are plenty of restaurants nearby and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Galleria Accademia and the Duomo. 10 mins walk from the Station.
The hotel entrance is through a doorway from the road and is not very obvious - look for the da vinci museum which is through the same entrance.

Thank you !!

You are right, the breakfast room is lovely with the frescoed ceiling. We are sure you know that all the frescoes of our Hotel are original of the 19th century.
Every frescoe in the breakfast room represents a opera.

But we hope you liked also our breakfast buffet !

Kind regards

I stayed here with my mum and dad and my husband. We had 2 double rooms for 3 nights which cost us a very reasonable sum of about 500EUR.

Location - it is about 10 minutes from SM NOvella station and 5 minutes straight down the road to the Duomo. At the back is the Market Centrale - the location is excellent and feels safe to walk around at night when you have had one too many. Take note, it is hard to find though, as it is down a little alcove off of Via Cavour and is not signed. You have to go into the alcove and will see a small sign for the hotel, then you go up a flight of marble steps to get to reception.

Rooms - The hotel is newly refurbished so all the tiles and grouting etc are new and clean. The bed is hard but comfortable - the pillows are not great - I had to fold mine in half to get any decent height. Breakfast is decent consisting of toast, pastries, tea, coffee, juice, cereals.

Service - The only problem is if you get a room next to reception/bar area there is no chance of sleeping in, as every morning at 8am there is quite a racket going on with people talking and glasses, plates being washed. Having said that I would definitely recommend the hotel - having traveled the world over, this is a little gem. The staff are always really, really friendly and willing to help with everything.

I stayed here for five days in July with my wife. The hotel has only been open since June. Two blocks from the Duomo. Five minute walk to the Uffizzi and Academia. The hotel is decorated with original 19th century frescoes from the Macchiaioli painters. Beautiful. Rooms are spotless. Service was excellent. Paolo, Francesca, Marco could not have been kinder or more helpful. Ask Paolo for his tour of the Uffizzi Gallery (he's a certified guide), it's terrific.

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel dei Macchiaioli and here is our verdict:

ROOM:
A newly appointed hotel since 1 July 2010 so everything in the room is brand new. The ceiling is high, room is spacious and the bath room is huge! The hotel staff were also very friendly and informative. The hotel is also handicapped friendly. It has a wheelchair lift for the stairs leading to the hotel on the 2nd floor. (However, the bathroom we stayed in has a single step to get to the toilet and shower so I am not sure if other rooms has a different bathroom set up). No WI-FI but internet is free via cable.

p/s: Current room rate 79 Euro per night (summer promotion)

F&B:
Breakfast is typical italian breakfast. They have croissants, toast bread, cheese, cold cuts, yogurt, and a coffee machine where you can make cappuccino, coffee or tea etc.

LOCATION:
7 mins walk to Duomo cathedral. 10 - 12 min walk to Uffizi Musuem. 15 mins walk to Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge). Cafes and restaurants is around every corner. There is a Leonardo Da Vinci museum just right below the hotel (in the same building on the ground floor).
