This was one of the best highlights of our trip and there were many! We left Rome by train early in the Morning to make it to our FlorenceTown Via dei Lamberti 1 50123 Florence for 10:00 am. The scenery from the train was amazing! The train was very comfortable and we enjoyed the whole trip. We got to Rome and walked with our luggage to the FlorenceTown office, since we were staying at I Parigi about 15 minutes out of Florence we asked to leave our luggage at the FlorenceTown office which was fine but was a long staircase to walk with big bags. Luckily this would be the only minor downside to a wonderful day. We were met by Giovani and Davide and taken to the San Lorenzo Market. Believe me you will want to go back to this place if you have time while in Florence. They have everything you could want in a market, fresh fruit and vegetables, wine, cheese, olive oil, seafood, etc.... and the prices are really good here. If you want to buy your prepackaged spices for home, get them here. After a being instructed on wines, olive oils, balsamic vinegars, bruschetta and of course tastings, we made our way to the cooking school a few blocks away. We all donned our aprons took our positions around the large granite table and began immediately making Tiramisu. Giovanni told us that Tiramisu has to sit in the fridge for 2 hours so it had to be prepared first. Everyone took a turn hand mixing the ingredients. Next it was time to make homemade pasta and ravioli. I won't give you a step by step because you will want to experience it for yourself but needless to say it was a lot of fun. Next up making the sauces, a Bolognese for the Pasta and a Butter Sage for the ravioli. The fun and the smells were truly amazing and then finally we got to sit down with wine and enjoy the fruits of our labor. I don't know if it was the work or what but our meal that we prepared by had was absolutely delicious. I plan on making the whole meal tonight for friends and that/'s what reminded me that I hadn't posted my review. I have been to Italy twice my wife 5 times and she said this was one of the most enjoyable experiences she has ever had. We both give it 5 stars and I think you will too. If you have time this is WELL WORTH the price and the 5 hours it takes. You will be done by 3 pm with a certificate proclaiming you newfound cooking skills, a recipe book for home, a full belly and a smile on your face as you go out and explore what else Florence has to offer.
