“Rustic elegance on the grand Arno”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Though we wanted to be mainly in Firenze, the unusual setting of this hotel, right on the river, made us book six nights at Mulino, an impressive establishment with all amenities modern, elegant, and service to match. We had a room opening to the wide, expansive terraces with borders washed by the grand river, running impetuously its centuries old waters.

The hotel offers a free shuttle to Firenze, book a day in advance to ensure place as they share this van with another establishment. The distance to the city is covered in 20-25 minutes and if you stay later in town, a taxi will cost 20 Euros to the hotel.

Our room was a decent size, well and tastefully furnished, comfy bed with fine linens, and the bath was spacious and well appointed. Cleanliness was immaculate.

The common areas are inviting, with a warm elegance, of an old noble manor, paintings of life in centuries past adorning all walls, light up by antique chandeliers, with a truly rich art history library.
The restaurant is elegant, the terrace overlooks the river and they are glad to serve you outside weather permitting. Breakfast is delicious, and the service prompt and pleasant.

We had dinner a few times, thought the food was satisfying, reasonably priced, but nothing outstanding. Yet, they cooked some more interesting risottos for us, when we asked.
The sauna and steam room are modern, spacious, easy to use and a perfect way of relaxing after a long day about the town. The outdoor swimming pool is certainly delightful in summer, and so should be any leisurely time spent within the grounds of this gem of rustic beauty, full of character and natural energy. A very special place in Tuscany that we'd always recommend.

Room Tip: Definitely facing the river

We had a great time staying in this lovely hotel! The setting is very picturesque overlooking the river Arne and the Green Tuscan countryside.
The thing that really made our stay so memorable was the quality of the staff. Aldo and his team on reception could not have been more helpful; booking gallery tickets recommending restaurants ( where to get the primo pizza) even printing off train timetables to Pisa and Lucca!
Khaled who runs the restaurant was outstanding! He was knowledgeable and fun. He provided excellent advice on the best wines to accompany the delicious food prepared by a very skilful chef!
We had intended eating at a different restaurant every night but ended up eating at the hotel it was such an enjoyable experience!
The hotel also provides a fantastic breakfast included in the room rate!

Welcomed by friendly, multilingual staff. Fast efficient check in. Quiet and comfortable room. Excellent decor. Secure onsite free parking. Restaurant closed on Sunday. No kettle in the room and breakfast is at best average. For example there was no bread for breakfast only biscuits!

Room Tip: Some rooms only have showers. ask for a bath if you want one.

Stayed here 1 night during our month-long trip in Italy... Beautiful place, unique rooms, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet and very good restaurant for dinner... Garage for the car was perfect, right across the road from the hotel ... The staff went over and above to make sure that all was well during our visit... There are a couple of rooms to relax with a glass of prosecco or a cafe after dinner... It is outside of Florence by about 10 minutes or so but if you have a car, it is easy enough to drive to the old part of florence and park at a large garage near the Santa croce church... They have a shuttle to take you to a location near uffici gallery but only operates a few times during the day... Would definitely stay here again!

I just returned home having spend 3 nights at the Hotel with my daughter.
The first thing I would say is that the staff were really lovely and were one of the main reasons why our stay was so special. They were friendly, helpful, relaxed and went out of their way to help us. The hotel itself is also more unique. We chose it because it looked different, it wasn't in the hustle and bustle of the centre of Florence and it had some character, unlike a lot of hotels you find. The rooms were spotless and the cleaners also deserve credit for their 'little touches' which made us smile when we returned back from a day sight seeing (we had a room overlooking the courtyard which was simple, tastefully decorated & the spa bath was great after a day walking round). There are not many other eating establishments near to the hotel so we ate at the restaurant a couple of times (where the staff spoilt us with little treats) and on the other night had a meal in the centre of Florence before getting the 6.30pm shuttle bus back. Incidentally the shuttle bus to/from the centre was great & if you don't feel the times of the bus suit you, you can always choose to get a taxi. The reason we liked this hotel so much is because it is further out of the centre, it is in a lovely location, it has a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and it is unique. As I am writing, I am smiling, thinking of the wonderful 4 days we have just spent at this hotel in Florence. I would recommend it !

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Best choice we could have made. It's away from the city center which believe me after a whole day there, you'll want some piece and quiet.

Location: the hotel is a couple miles away from the center on the opposite side of the river. You'll need to get a taxi from the airport to get to it. Just to put you at ease, to get to the hotel requires a few back roads and and one way a streets. It may seem like the driver is gonna bring to some back alley and mug you but don't worry...you'll get there in one piece.

Room: The room we received was overlooking the river. Fantastic view and quite peaceful with the sounds of the flowing river. All the required amenities were present, american plug in the bathroom, hairdryer, jacuzzi tub (maybe just our room), TV, and mini fridge.

Staff: Great! It is a small hotel so you'll see the same staff through out your stay which actually gives it a homey feel.

Hotel: Offers a daily shuttle in and out of the city center that requires a reservation be made by 10pm for the next day. Two departure (9&10) and return times (5:30&6:30). Don't miss your times or the bus will leave without you. That's your fault. Not theirs.

Offer a complimentary american style breakfast each morning. Eggs, sausage, bacon. At breakfast are is actually a restaurant where you can also done. We had our first meal there and it too was amazing. A very good introduction to Florence

Overall: Amazing experience. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. As I mentioned it is definitely nice to get away from the city after a long day of exploring Florence.

We were based here for nine days as we traveled through Tuscany and explored the city of Florence. The free shuttle ,which we took advantage of for 2 of the days was a pleasure.

Our room looked out over the Arno river, romantic and picture perfect. The staff was outstanding, giving us driving directions to all our destinations and great suggestions for our wine tour. Aldo, Sabrina, and all of the front desk staff treated us like family! Emilio, at the bar greeted us every evening, knowing our names and what we wanted.

Every detail of this hotel from the food to the décor , to the beautiful rooms made our vacation a dream of a lifetime. We can't wait to return. Thank You !!!!

Nancy and Anthony
