“Wow!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 via mobile

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my Wife's birthday and what a surprise it was. This hotel is absolutely stunning. The location is like nothing we have seen before. From the train station it cost us €25 in a taxi to reach the hotel. They do have shuttle bus which you can book in advance and it takes you to their sister hotel closer to the centre of Florence. We noticed that the No 23 bus also goes to the local town and then it's about a 15 minute walk to the hotel. It appears longer in a cab on the way there because the roads are so narrow and all one way only. On arriving at noon we were happy to find that our room was ready for us. We took advantage of the swimming pool and booked ourselves onto the 17:00hrs shuttle into town. The pool is stunning and they provide towels and sunbeds. They also have flip flops if you need some. Our room was beautiful and the jacuzzi bath proved a massive hit for tired legs and feet after a day sight seeing. We ate at the hotel restaurant on our last night and the food was outstanding. We had the 1kg T-bone steak to share and it was one of the best steaks we have ever eaten. A warning to those that might order this, don't think about a starter or first plate before hand. You will not manage your main meal. The starters are huge! They have a great selection of wine and the lovely bar man, who it would appear has been there years, will happily advise you on your choice. This is a very romantic setting and you will not be disappointed if you book a stay here.

We came to the hotel having spent two nights in Pisa. We took the train at €8 each from Pisa to Florence and on our return we took the Terravision coach directly to Pisa airport for €6 each.

My husband, I and our 5-year old daughter spent three nights at Hotel Mulino and wished we could have stayed more. The hotel itself is absolutely charming. The real star of the hotel is truly the staff, who are wonderfully friendly. Our 5-year old made good use of the large pool, although you cannot see your swimmer from the chairs so you need to get in the water. We all enjoyed the food thoroughly here - whether starting at the breakfast in the morning, a lunch in the main area or dinner in their restaurant. The location into Florence is of course the disadvantage but the shuttle worked out well. We'd usually shuttle in and take a taxi back (15-20Euro). We did drive into Florence and park once but I'm not sure that I'd recommend that. This hotel is a terrific base to explore Tuscany from - for example, one day we drove to Siena. Truly, we cannot say enough good things about this hotel - comfortable, well-appointed and wonderful English-speaking staff. A terrific experience.

Dear Roanth,

Put the Mulino on the river bank into Florence... and the atmosphere would not be the same. Not the same quietness, not the sound of the river (but just the but just the noise of traffic), not the swallows flying in the courtyard, not the turtles and ducks enjoying the peaceful and green surrounding, not much space for garden and pools... in this way being not very close to the city centre is for us the first point in favor!

I am glad You enjoyed Your stay at the Mulino and hope to welcome You and Your Family soon again!

Kind regards

This hotel was the highlight of our 11 days in Italy. Beautiful place right on the river but still close to the city - and they have a free shuttle 6 times a day. It was the perfect place to relax and cool off in the pool after a long day of sightseeing. I was initially worried it would be annoying to be out of the city, but it was the highlight of the trip instead! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the restaurant has some of the most amazing fresh pastas, delicious wines, and a picturesque view. I highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Splurge for the river view! Definitely eat dinner here at least once.

Having read the rave-reviews we were really looking forward to our 4 night stay at Hotel Mulino do Firenze... and we were not disappointed! Everything was perfect! The staff were friendly, attentive and professional, the bedrooms were beautifully appointed. As for the views... Wow! Stunning position right on the River Arno with a beautiful terrace to enjoy breakfast or dinner. We had dinner on two of our four nights there and it was as good, if not better than anything Florence had to offer! Would love to return...

Booked a few nights here for a relaxing break but also wanted to see Florence. The hotel is approx 15 mins outside of the city but there is a free shuttle that runs throughout the day for guests. The hotel is on the banks of the river Arno so eating & having drinks to the sound of rushing water is incredibly relaxing. The staff all spoke good English and were very welcoming and incredibly helpful. I'd definitely recommend this hotel and would look to return if I go back to Florence.

We stayed here for two nights whilst we explored Florence. We were upgraded to a larger room when we arrived which was nice (there was some work going on outside bit that didn't really disturb us). The room itself was a good size, well equipped with a nice bathroom. We had a nice lunch in the main piazza and the staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. In the evening we had dinner on the veranda overlooking the river Arno and it was gorgeous. The food was excellent too. I couldn't recommend the hotel more highly.
