“LOVE! best of both worlds”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

My husband chose this hotel for our honeymoon based on the fact that we both love city walk but equally love wine and the beauty of wine country. This was our final stop on our honeymoon and I'm so glad we chose this place. Breathtaking views, stellar service, complimentary breakfast spread every AM, only down fall is we couldn't stay longer!

We were given apartment 2 which overlooks the beautiful river and scenic mountain views, perfect for a couple on their honeymoon! We arrived mid afternoon after the restaurant had already closed for lunch and they were still able to accommodate us and make us something to eat anyways. Shuttle runs every AM and night so reserve a day in advance. Unfortunately the last shuttle back in at 7:30pm so we had to take cabs back nightly, around $25 euros but all drivers knew of this hotel and it was about a 2.5 drive.

We are already booking our return and will definitely be staying here!! We were a short drive to the wine region and to the city center. Service is A+; couldn't be happier with this hotel

A lovely hotel that has gracefully integrated rustic elegance and beauty into what was originally a mill on the Arno River. Our room with a river view (#115) was on the smallish side but certainly adequate for two people; the luxurious and comfortable bedding, large windows and pristine marble bathroom with a view of the restaurant terrace and the river more than compensated. Staff was friendly and helpful; we loved sipping limoncello in the evening in the bar and adored the gentleman who tended the bar, Emilio - a charming raconteur. Breakfast was marvelous with lots of choices, including flaky pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, sausage and eggs, and and as many hot, frothy cups of cappuccino as we wanted - it was wonderful lingering over coffee every morning. The grounds are lovely; the swimming pool is stunningly beautiful (especially at night) and artfully integrated into the architecture. It was closed in October but nevertheless a pleasure to view. Little nooks and corners abound in the building with tile, terra cotta pots, artwork and ceramics giving this hotel the air of someone's country home. Parking was secure and easy to exit when we used our auto to make day trips outside of Florence. The hotel is worth the bit of a jaunt to get to Florence but the shuttle was easy and convenient. We just took a taxi back in the evening. Be advised that our GPS led us to a location far short of the hotel - we continued on, turned right down a very narrow walled lane and then began to see the signs to the hotel.

Room Tip: We never heard any road noise but strongly advise that you opt for a room with a view of the river...

We stayed here for two nights while on a tour of Italy. It is without doubt the most beautiful hotel I have stayed in. The location is great, very peaceful and tranquil. The staff were brilliant especially the front desk staff. They reserved tickets for us at accademia which allowed us to see the statue of David with no waiting. Every request was facilitated, down to little things like providing an adapter. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence with a family or couples on a romantic break. Many thanks to the staff, ciao!!

We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay near Florence but not in the city mainly because we were driving and didn't want to deal with driving inside the city. This was a good choice. The parking is covered and secure. We didn't move our car the entire three days we were there because we used the convenient hotel shuttle in and out of Florence. It ran several times a day and worked out well for us - just know that you have to reserve your seat the day before since they share it with other hotels and they might not have an open seat for you on the spot. You can take a taxi but it will run you 25Euros or more. The property itself is lovely and interesting. Our room was small and the biggest drawback was the lack of drawer space. I had to live out of my suitcase which I don't like to do. Staff was helpful and friendly, especially in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good with many choices. Dinner was okay but it was not our favorite restaurant by a mile. They had a rather limited menu in my opinion and it was pricey. We could have stayed in town for dinner and taken a taxi but we were too exhausted at the end of the day so one day we just bought meat/cheese/wine in town and ate in the room which was relaxing and peaceful. I would highly recommend this hotel knowing it's location limitations and work around them.

I wouldn't give all 5 stars in every category if it weren't true! We were looking for the feel of Tuscany during our stay and that was exactly what we got. A bed and breakfast feel for the "hotel" price. Service was excellent and food was even better. Eat a dinner or two here... it was our best meal of our stay.
Cab was about 30 euros in to Florence center incase you miss free transport. So distance wasn't really an issue because cabs are everywhere.

We are married in our young 60's on our first trip to Italy. This was a highlight of our trip. The location is about 20 minutes from the city so don't think you are being driven the wrong way. This hotel is set on on the Arno River and is just breathtaking to see anytime of the day, especially in the early morning when the sun rises. All the staff was so gracious, and the bartender will always have my heart for making me the best Manhattan in all my life. Incredible free breakfast as was the dinner the evening before - definitely exceeded expectations. Be sure to book the shuttle the day before, otherwise you may end up having to pay for a taxi. We could have saved about 20 euros if we knew about the shuttle upon our arrival in Florence so be sure to check on that. The rooms are very spacious and lovely and we had a wonderful bathroom. My only complaint is that we had to leave.

Room Tip: Our room was facing the river and it was wonderful.

Single double, upgraded to superior river view. The room was excellent. The stuff was very pleasant and kind. The hotel close to the city, excellent designed, beautiful details, peaces of art. Great architecture. The rates are value for money. The bar has a range of high brands of drinks. The restaurant has a cold atmosphere, i believe from the lights and the colours. I would suggest this hotel. Avoid the rooms near the street.

Room Tip: River view, upper floors, careful with the rooms near the street.
