“This beautifully restored water mill is a fantastic boutique hotel close to Florence.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

This is a delightful property. It is an old water mill that has been lovingly and tastefully restored and is now a superb boutique hotel on the banks of the river very close to Florence. The atmosphere and ambiance of this property is supplemented by the wonderful art pieces, the furniture, as well as displays of the machinery, workings and drawings of the original old working mill. The staff are just superb , helpful and friendly in all areas of the property. The rooms are beautifully appointed, the restaurant a feast for the senses and the grounds and other public areas attractive and well kept. We visited in February, but there is a beautiful pool and deck for warmer weather. You really need at least two nights here to take full advantage of the hotel and Florence of course. The hotel runs a courtesy coach daily into town and offers secure under cover parking for your vehicle. This is a truly fantastic hotel and we would recommend it to anyone considering a visit to Florence. It's a very special place, and when you have travelled extensively as many of us have, this hotel really impresses. Congratulations to the owners, managers and staff.

“WONDERFUL!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

From the moment we arrived to our leaving, this hotel was top notch. They were so helpful with my dad's immobility issues too. We loved our rooms, the view, the customer service (which we found lacking in a lot of Italy) and the restaurant was amazing. It is out of the city a bit but you can use their shuttle which is about 10 min from the center and you don't have the hustle and bustle of the city, but a serene and beautiful place to stay.

Room Tip: Stay on the upper floors for the best views.

“Superb hotel, excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

What a superb hotel! We arrived by car and found the underground garage very spacious. Upon walking into Reception you can see what a fantastic place this is. We were greeted by a lovely lady on Reception who was extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We were shown to our room which looked out onto the River Arno. The room was big (there were 3 of us), and exceptionally well furnished. The view onto the weir was superb (if a little noisy due to all the rain they had had!). The ensuite marble bathroom was spotlessly clean and equipped with many extras including toiletries, bathrobes and complimentary slippers. The common areas are fabulous, everywhere is immaculate and the standard of the furnishings are second to none. All the staff we met were superb, exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable and they were more than happy to help in any way they could. The restaurant is gorgeous. Breakfast was buffet style and there was so much to choose from it was great. We ate in the restaurant twice in the evening and the food was lovely. You must try the Florentine t-bone steak which was exceptional. The shuttle bus to Florence wasn’t working whilst we were there but the hotel had no hesitation in providing us with taxi’s to and from Florence (at their expense) so getting around was very easy. It is only a 10 minute drive to the centre of Florence. A superb hotel with brilliant staff and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We will certainly stay there again if we are lucky enough to visit Florence in the future.

Room Tip: Book a room overlooking the River Arno as the view is delightful.

“Great place, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Mulino di Firenze in January during the off-season and it was great! It was far enough away from the city that you could enjoy a great view of the river and countryside but, only a 5 minute ride away. Great location. The value for the service and room we received was amazing and the hotel staff was more than happy to accommodate our needs. The hotel provides a shuttle that runs to downtown Florence four times a day, so don't bother paying for a cab unless you want to stay out late. I see other reviewers complaining about the pool area; we went in winter when this wasn't an option but, if you want western standards when you travel then stay in the United States. This is a converted centuries old mill, its not going to be the Holiday Inn. They place is great, the city was wonderful, and the staff was top notch. Oh, if you don't try the Florentine Steak at the hotel restaurant, you are missing out on a taste of life.

Room Tip: If at all possible, try to get a room overlooking the river. Absolutely beautiful views when enjoyi...
