“Great Value, Lovely Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2010

I accompanied my husband to Florence. While he was there to teach at the Meyer Hospital, I was simply enjoying. I lived many years in Italy and know Florence quite well.

LOCATION: Fantastic. Ideal. I love the Oltrarno neighborhood -- while close to everything, it is relatively serene. Piazza Santo Spirito is wonderful.

HOTEL: The hotel occupies the upper floors of a historic building. The spaces are fantastic. Huge rooms, fantastic views. For a three star hotel, it has 4-5 star public areas. In particular, the loggia is a delightful place to sit and sip whatever and to gaze over the city and surrounding hills. The owner/managers are a very lovely couple, and that is reflected by their employees. All make you feel at home. The bathrooms are huge and immaculate. Furnishings are simple and lovely and more than adequate.

The value for the price is outstanding. We will definitely return.

I have stayed in many beautiful hotels in Florence but the Palazzo Guadagni is a great find. Each room has amazing views and the terrace (with wireless) is the best place to site and relax in Florence.

The family who run this hotel really make you feel at home.
They gave great advice on some wonderful restaurants, and helped with museum bookings.
The location is excellent, the rooms large, the breakfast wholesome.
The hotel is full of character with beautiful high ceilings and the lovely veranda.

We stayed with our 4.5 months old baby in this hotel for one week. The owners/staff were very friendly and helped us with anything we needed, ranging from tips for restaurants to helping us carry the pram up the last few steps (the hotel has an elevator). The hotel is located in a beautiful old palazzo, with lots of antique decorations and furnished likewise. Large rooms with high ceilings. There is also a beautiful loggia with a view (weather permitting, otherwise one can sit inside, close to the loggia). The building is situated at the Piazza Santo Spirito, in the charming quarter of Oltrarno, just at the "other" side of the river Arno: We liked to stay not in the crowded center of the city; in a 5-minute's walk, however, you cross the river and enter the center. We would certainly go back to this hotel!

The managers and staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the room spacious and quiet with fabulous views over rooftops and the Santo Spirito church to the Duomo. A bonus was the comfortable open and enclosed verandah areas for sitting and reading. There was a lift up to the reception area and then my room was up one level.

After traveling across a good part of Italy, this hotel was overall the best value and accommodation. We did stay at other 3, 4, & 5 star hotels in Italy as a basis of comparison, and still found this hotel as our favorite. The room was very large relative to other hotel rooms in Europe. We had a nice view of the Duomo. Room was very clean. Interesting shower stall which had a rather higher ledge to step over to get in. Hotel location was a little difficult to find. About 20 minutes walk from the SMN Train station, very manageable, little challenging with luggage. Breakfast was good, fresh coffee and normal pastries and croissants. Blood oranges & Kiwi were really good. Location is great and close walk to all the attractions and museums. Outside deck is very nice to relaxing with a view and have a glass of wine.

The hotel occupies the top floor of a palazzo overlooking Piazzo Santo Spirito. The building may be old but the rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. Friendly staff and the terrace overlooking the square is the perfect place to relax with a prosecco before venturing out to one of the nearby restaurants for dinner. All the sights in central Florence are just a short walk away.
