“Eat where David ate.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

Well not really. But it's still a pretty good restaurant. After you've spent a morning taking in the cultural joys of the Accademia and San Marco Museum, stop in here for lunch or dinner. I gave the Cavatelli al sugo di salsiccia piccante (Cavatelli with spicy sausage) a try and it was quite tasty. My traveling companion enjoyed her Polenta alla griglia con carciofi saltati e gocce di balsamico (Polenta with fresh artichokes and balsamic vinegar). Pleasant atmosphere, polite wait staff, and great location just across the piazza from San Marco.

Great title to your post, but yes, entirely untrue. We have only been open for 15 years, and the great man himself (Michelangelo) walked the streets of Florence a while before that! His inspiration for the David was dislocated from us both is terms of time and geography! But we are sure that they both would have been regulars! Thank you so much for your comments!

“Always eat here when in Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013 via mobile

This place is consistently excellent. Great food, superior service, clean, well lit, busy, great wine menu. I've been to Florence three times and look forward to returning to this restaurant each time. The little bar next door is owned by same people and it makes a good waiting spot if they are full. You can buy a bottle of wine here and they will put it on your dinner tab when you get into the restaurant to eat.

Our new bar next door is working out great just how you described. It'll be fun in warmer weather too when we can use the outdoor tables. We are so pleased that you have become one of our regulars! See you next time.

“Good food, nice place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013 via mobile

We had a pleasant dinner with good food and friendy service. The waiters were helpful and brought us an alternative dish when our daughter didn't like what she ordered. We will come back.

Children are all about learning new flavours and we understand that sometimes ordering things in a foreign country can be hard! We look forward to meeting you all again sometime.

“Friendly staff, delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Great food and terrific service. Staff at Ristorante Accademia were by far the friendliest staff we had at any meal in Florence (and there were many restaurants that we went to where the staff was equally conversant in English). Food is a mix of traditional Italian with some modest contemporary twists. While the food was rather simple, it all tasted great - spaghetti with spicy tomato sauce was probably the highlight, though every item had terrific flavors.

Thank you for taking the time to say so! Spagetthi and spicey tomato sauce is one of our favourites too! Stay with us on facebook, and via our website.
