“What a gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

My husband and I took our first trip to Europe and picked all of our hotels based on Trip Advisor reviews. How thankful we were to find ourselves at Hotel L'Orologio. Such a lovely property, immaculate with excellent service. I had asked for a room with a view of the Duomo, and when we arrived, we were upgraded to a suite. We opened the windows to be treated to a spectacular view of the Duomo. Then we discovered that we had a terrace from which we could sit and listen to the church bells ringing all over town in the evening while overlooking the rooftops of the city. It is one of our favorite memories - so much so that we are returning next May for a longer stay. The room itself was lovely, the bed super comfortable, the bathroom beautiful with all its marble. The locaiton is perfect - quiet, yet walking distance to everything. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place in Florence. It is truly a gem.

Really enjoyed our stay. We were well looked after, rooms were spotless and well furnished, beds super comfy, service very good, breakfast plentiful. Bathrooms well appointed.
The hotel had just opened on our first visit back in 2009 we were the first ever guests to stay in room 501 (they had just finished unwrapping furniture), that made it special and l have to say it still felt just as special third time round.
Location is good, a short walk to Duomo, if using train station a short 7 min cab ride from main station. Wifi connection good.
When in Florence l will stay here.

Room Tip: Room 501 suite with terrace table and chairs overlooking roof tops. Note shower over the bath tub, b...

We booked this hotel on the recommendation of others staying at the hotel and commenting on their stay on Trip Advisor. Thank you to everyone. This is a jewel of a hotel in Florence. It's about a 10 minute walk from the main railway station and a five minute walk to the centre, The Duomo. It took us a little while to find the hotel as there aren't big signs so definitely worth checking out the exact location before your visit (but worth keeping the secret safe of this fantastic find). As it's slightly out from the centre it's quieter and in a really lovely piazza. From the moment you step through into the hotel reception you feel as though all the staff want to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as they can. From the reception staff, the staff in the restaurant serving breakfast (restaurant on the fourth floor with lovely views across the piazza) and the staff looking after your rooms - THANK YOU. We had a room that looked out over the street, very quiet and welcomed the quiet air conditioning (34 degree heat). The hotel is themed on watches; which my husband being a collector loved. So, if your reading this review, we've stayed in some lovely hotels in many cities but this ranks as one of our favourites.

We have just spent three night in this hotel at end of June and it was wonderful. The staff at reception were so helpful, particularly Lorenzo who could not help guests enough. It is situated in a prime location, rooms are large and well appointed and really a pleasure to stay there. We caught a train to Rome and station is about 3 minutes walk away. Walk out the doors of the hotel and history is all around you. Restaurants are close by as well as shopping. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel was a wonderful place to stay in Florence. Located in a prime place near the rail station, L'Orologio was our home for three evenings. The room was large an wonderfully furnished! The bathroom was a delight: large marble tub, separate shower...plenty of room to spread out! The staff rescued us when one of our tours backed out and enabled us to reschedule to the next day! They even walked us to a recommended restaurant when we got lost! We will be back! Grazie!

I was pleasantly surprised by this gem of a Hotel right from the moment i stepped in .LORENZO from the front desk came running outside to help us with our bags . In less than 5 minutes we were in our room on the 2 nd floor and WHAT A ROOM!! Sheer luxury, the bathroom carved out of satvario marble with intricate mouldings and the taps which are like the bezel of a watch .The owner of this hotel is a watch connoisseur and no wonder this hotel is a master-piece created out of his desire for perfection . On the 1st night of our stay the AC stopped working and it became unbearable to sleep . PAOLO at the reception counter was so helpful that even at 2am(on a sunday ) he shifet us to another room . These things make them much better than the BIGGER chain of hotels , which hardly answer or solve problems expeditiously without giving excuses . THE HOTEL AND THE EXCELLENT STAFF ARE TRULY A VERY GOOD COMBINATION FOR A GREAT VACATION,

Room Tip: higher floor rooms (it is a 5 storey hotel ) and the rooms with a view.
