“Excellent location near the Duomo.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Enjoyed stay here. Convenient to everything you must see in Florence. Good sized rooms and bathrooms. Very good breakfast buffet and nice bar area. Quality furnishings. Very good staff. Unusual small elevator! Would recommend for any stay in Florence.

Room Tip: Breakfast buffet is on 4th floor if you want to be close.

Beautiful hotel in great location. Excellent beds and amenities with marble bathrooms. Location can't be beat. Staff goes out of their way to help and give you a good experience. Breakfast was wonderful with a full array of hot and cold dishes in an excellent setting. The theme of the hotel is clocks and watches with some incredible pieces around the hotel. Ambiance is wonderful and is a boutique experience. Would go back again.

We spent three nights at the Hotel L'Orologio. It is a beautiful hotel. The room was lovely, and comfortable and the bathroom was huge and well appointed. The breakfast was delicious and the breakfast room had a beautiful view. The staff was helpful, the location was very convenient, and overall we couldn't be happier with our stay!

The location of the hotel is perfect, and the interior of the hotel and the appointments as very nice. Unfortunately, we were placed in room 114, which is a very dark and noisy junior suite with no exterior light or windows to the outside of the hotel, and very limited lighting in the room. Instead, this is the only room in the hotel that faces an inside courtyard next to the bar, so it was very noisy in the evenings with music and the sound of employees cleaning the bar, and we were woken up every morning at 6:53 AM when the employees arrived in the morning to set up for breakfast. They would start by blasting the house music (James Brown) and then by vacuuming and washing dishes. The only light was a weird purple light coming from a large indoor water feature in the courtyard below our room.

The problem is that we booked a "junior suite with view" through Expedia, and as we heard from other travelers, booking through Expedia in Italy does not seem to be a good idea. They tend to give you the worse room possible for some reason. When we complained, the hotel did work to mitigate the noise somewhat, by not turning on the house music so early in the morning, but the other noises persisted. We were told that no other junior suites were available, and in retrospect, we probably should have taken the hit and moved to a smaller room just to get some natural sunlight and away from the noise.

We just complained to the hotel after arriving back in the US, seeking a 15% refund due to the fact that we did not get the room that we booked (the hotel charges about 15% more for rooms with view versus those with no view) but we were rebuffed and instead offered a discount should he decide to return to the hotel again in the future. What galls me about their response is that they are trying to claim that this room did have a view (of the internal courtyard) and that people request this room because they like the water feature below.

We spent 3 nights of our honeymoon at Hotel L'Orologio. It is a quick walk from the train station.... but it is hard to find the hotel at first since there is not much signage and our map application on the old IPHONE wasn't being very helpful. Our room was great and pretty spacious. The bath was wonderful. A HUGE bathtub with great bath products for delightful soaking. The location was great and the staff was pretty helpful. Be aware - We were almost charged 7 euros for them to bring ice and glasses up to the room for an afternoon cocktail, but thankfully asked and took the elevator down 2 floors to get it from them ourselves. The bar was classy and comfortable with yummy drinks. The breakfast that was included with our room rate was pretty standard but it was nice that it was included. Our room overlooked the street and could get a little noisy as the night got going (we were up late anyways, so it didn't bother us.) A quick walk to the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore (breathtaking!) and Duomo. We had drinks outside a little bar on the cathedrals square that had very strong drinks and our server was very friendly.

We spent three nights at the L'Orologio in the summer of 2012. We had a room on the top floor with a post card view of the Duomo. The room was spacious, modern and comfortable. The staff was very helpful providing help and recommendations for all our activities. The location was great. An easy walk to man touristy attractions; public transportation; Also an easy walk in to quiet neighborhoods, or altra'Arno. After a day of exploring, sitting outside at the cafe with a icy spritz is highly recommended. Don't try driving in Florence though if you can avoid it though (this from someone who likes driving in Italy).

We had passed this very stylish hotel on our many trips to Florence and this year we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed.

We chose a room with a view over the stunning Florentine skyline and this just served to emphasise the hotel's central location for all the key landmarks.

Breakfast was lavish in continental terms and again we had a great view over the piazza.

All in all everything was pretty much perfect - an elegant and tasteful hotel which actually represents good value for money.

Just one minor criticism - like many contributors, we were bewildered by the nightly hide and seek game to find the solitary bar tender!
