“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Stayed here for my honeymoon. Was supposed to be a guest at the hotel Santa Maria Novella next door (their sister hotel) but there was a mistake with the reservation and had to spend a night at the Hotel L'Orologio. Best hotel I've ever stayed in. Gorgeous! So clean and beautiful. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back to Florence just to stay at this hotel!

My husband and I stayed in an upgraded room so please note, my comments will be about the upgraded room. It was fabulous! The room was huge, even by American standards. The bathroom alone I think was bigger than our entire hotel room in Rome. Bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean. Fantastic location, very easy walk to the train station and every sight in Florence. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful with everything we asked for, including plates and corkscrews and knives for a little "picnic" we had in our room, and in relaying messages from our tour guides about changes. Really no criticisms at all, if we are even back in Florence, I would stay there again in a minute. We went to the Westin just to see because I had been considering it, and what a rip-off! I highly recommend this hotel.

This is a nice and well located hotel in Florence. Rooms are well decorated, bathroom is nice except for the curtain which keeps sticking to your body when taking shower!
Breakfast room is beautiful with a fantastic view and servers are nice.
The only problem I can put my finger on is the attitude of almost all persons working at the reception desk! The management of the hotel should speak to them and ask them to be more friendly with the guests.
Great place to stay is when in Florence.

I have sstayed 4 nights at the hotel. It is really a very nice hotel. It is located at the center of the city, within short walking distance from the train station, the Duomo and Piazza della signoria. Despite it's central point it is quiet and nicely insulated. The staff was attentive and very helpful. The room was spaciuos and very nicely decorated, especially the bathroom.
The very good breakfast is served at the 4th floor in a room overlooking the beautiful piazza.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. After much deliberation we chose this hotel and we were not disappointed!
It is a 5 minute (maximum) walk to the hotel from the station and because I had read on TA that the sign for the hotel was very small I found the hotel easily by noticing the clock door mat! We were warmly welcomed and congratulated on our anniversary which was a nice touch.
Our room was gorgeous and very large. It was fairly dark but not in a gloomy way! We had a large room with a large comfy bed, an area with a sofa and table and then a massive marble bathroom with a gorgeous double bath and shower. We were really pleased with this luxurious room and found it very quiet and relaxing.
Wifi was a bit hit and miss but adequate for what we needed,
Breakfast is served in a light and airy room and all the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful.
We had a drink at the bar and sat outside to enjoy this - the waitress was very pleasant and served us an excellent selection of nibbles with our drinks.
We had beautiful weather for the whole time except for one morning where it rained - the hotel provides umbrellas which was very helpful.

We had a wonderful, memorable stay in Florence and we were so glad we had chosen Hotel L'Orologio to stay in.

We honeymooned in Florence and this hotel was a highlight of the trip. We stayed in a 2 story room with a reading nook and private rooftop patio. We also loved the hotel bar for pre-dinner cocktails. Highly recommend!

We only stayed here for 3 nights n already counting on the next stay....it's that good.

The hotel is in a perfect location if u arrive Firenze by train, only 5 minutes walking from S.maria novella station. However, the sign of the hotel is really hidden n hard to discover, we were only 20 meters away from the hotel entrance, walked around the area for 15 minutes flowing google map, still couldn't find it, finally had to ask someone to show us, then realize the whole time it is just right next to us....the only sigh of the hotel is about the size of A4 paper at the entrance wall, thats it,no big sighs / letters like every other hotel does In the piazza, if they try to be low key then they absolutely did a great job.

Despite the hidden sign, everything else is just fantastic about this hotel, the front desk is helpful n friendly, the decor of lobby lounge is extremely welcoming and relaxing, make u feel like in ur own study room/ living room, we were upgrade to a suit 322, it is amazing, not only it is duplex, but also has its own patio over looking the plaza- it's about 2mX 3m, n a very cozy lounge cushion enough to sleep two person in the upper level of the duplex, n a study area at the same level.

There r two windows at the lower level which where bedroom is, with the view of the back alley gives you the typical Florence view. The bed is big n comfortable,

They also have stero syterm through out room playing the in house music, every area- bathroom, bedroom, study has its own control panel for the on/ off n volum n different channels, this is cool.

However, the bathroom Size is just okay, one sink, one bath/ shower. The shower curtain keeps fly into you while showering which is quite annoying, n I noticed the bathtub initially is really narrow compare to US so its difficult to keep neat during shower. N the garbage in the bathroom is tiny n hard to open, they could just use a bin without the lid.

Another con about the room is the lighting, besides the two bed lamp n small reading lights n the lamp on the study table, there is no main light in the room, so it's always kinda dark. N there are just too many switches of different lights in the room without signs or main switch, every night before we go to bed, we have to spend 5 minutes to go up n down turn off every single light.

The gym is in the lower level, no windows unfortunately, with basic machine n weights, with a sauna room, which require advance 20 minutes booking at the front desk.

The breakfast is at 4f, it is simply, just like every other nice hotel in Italy, provides cold cut meat, cheese station, egg n bacon, pastry n veggie/ fruit. The quality is excellent.

There is a bar n outdoor seating but we didn't get the chance to enjoy it this trip, it looks very nice though.

Ps. The hotel provides parking space for the guest which is 38 euro per day, during day time before 7:30pm, I believe, if you with to park in the hotel garage you need to call the hotel first n have them arrange something so u don't get a fine, because the hotel locate at the plaza n during day time, cars r having limited access to the plaza area. It's just too confusing we decide to park somewhere else.

There r many shops right next to the hotel, as well as restaurant n bars...basically everything you need, you don't have to walk far for anything.

My husband n I loved this place, will def consider stay here again.
