We have been to Florence several times and although we love the city, it can be somewhat noisy and hectic. We had four days and wanted a hotel that would permit us to walk to all of our favorite attractions, and the Golden Tower's location is within 15 minutes of almost the entire historic area of Florence. Check-in was easy, and I believe we received an upgraded room. We had booked a standard room, but were placed in 501, a modest sized room but with a separate spa room looking out on the city. Amenities were all that we could want, and the room ,although modest in size was very comfortable. The hotel's soundproofing and air conditioning were perfect and we never heard any noise even though we were in the heart of the city. Breakfast was good, with hot scrambled eggs added to the usual continental breakfast fare. The service from everyone was impeccable, including many helpful reservations and advice. Although the hotel is not cheap, it offers good value, especially for people who might want a little downtime from all the energy and bustle of Florence.
