“Take Ear Plugs!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

We recently stayed at the Golden Tower Hotel Florence (10th April) , it is a lovely hotel but drinks are very expensive 9 euros for a glass of wine! Also unfortunatly there is a night club about Thirty metres up the square which is fine if you are that way inclined, but if you are tired after a busy day exploring Florence we didnt really appreciate the extremely loud music which is played from Thurs thro til sat night until 2am! Be warned take ear plugs!

Dear Lizzy509,
thank you for your review even if it was a shame your unhappiness about the music in the square which is completely beyond our control. As said to the previuos reviewers, we, together with residential and other hotels, have involved the police to make accurate control about the sounds (decibels) but unfortunately the burocracy is very slow.
As for the wine, you might be right, it is only depend on the type of wine you ordered.
Looking forward to welcoming back, we remain with all
our best regards,

We received a warm welcome to this wondertul hotel. Very impressed with the room. We upgraded to a deluxe room with free access to the spa and a free minibar - this was great as you get plenty of free water and snacks! I was a little disappointed to find that there was no wine with the minibar though, just beers but at least my husband was happy!
All of the staff were very friendly and helpful with our day to day questions regarding the city and helped us arrange transportation when we required it - they also confirmed a restaurant reservation for us that we had made directly with the restaurant from the UK.
It was my birthday during our stay and we even received a complimentary bottle of Prosecco delivered to our room which was a lovely touch. Prosecco is also part of the breakfast menu too!
All in all we had an amazing trip to Florence, helped very much by our accommodation and we would definitely stay there again should we return.

This is a beautiful hotel in a good location but the staff is REALLY holding the hotel back. My fiancé and I stayed here for two nights during our trek through Italy and we were not impressed at all. It seemed as if we were an inconvenience to the staff when we asked for restaurant recommendations etc. Also we were excited to use the spa facilities as it looked really amazing in the pictures. The spa does live up to the pictures and for the first 15 minutes we really enjoyed the facilities (steam room, sauna etc.). But out of no where the both of us began to cough uncontrollably. We weren't sure if it was due to mold or chlorine or what but something was just not right we told the staff but they did not seem phased. We got the couples massage which was the worst we've ever gotten. We complained to the front desk and their was a massive blow out in front of us between the front desk and the spa, I think there is different management. Lastly the breakfast buffet was really disappointing and did not offer a big selection. This hotel has a lot of potential to be great but during my stay it surely did not meet my expectations. Luckily enough Florence is a beautiful city and made up for our disappointing stay in this Hotel.

Dear Guests,
Thank you for the reviewe even if it is a little bit hard to remember the circumstances since last september (about 7 months ago) . To be very honest with you,I was surprised reading it, in particularly the part about the staff which is our strengths.Concerning the SPA, which is used from 90 % of our Guests, neither us nor other Guests have reported malfunctions.
As for the breakfas which is "complimentary" despite other hotels does, have a lot of fresh and high quality products which is witnessed by our guests.
We hope you will give us another chance and meanwhile, we remain with

I had looked at a number of locations in Florence for our honeymoon. My wife (then to be) had always wanted to go there and so I spent some considerable time looking for an ideal venue. I had found another hotel initially but hadn't booked it, and in one of those final (almost final) searches I came across the Golden Tower. We arrived by private chauffeur, and you cannot get a vehicle right outside but the driver walked us round to the entrance. Set on a relatively quiet street, yet very close to all the key sights, the hotel is well presented with attentive staff. I had seen a room online that I wanted to book, and the staff reserved that room for us (in the tower) and when we arrived there was a gift of Prosecco in our room. Each evening there was a free glass of Prosecco prior to Dinner evening if you weren't dining there. The breakfast was a wide ranging buffet including cheeses, meats, breads, fruit, yoghurt and the list goes on. A great location for exploring this beautiful City. We walked miles and miles as well as visited plenty of bars and sights and returned to a very comfortable hotel in what was one of the quieter parts of the City. My only comment would be was that the Dinner menu was the same for each of the three nights we were there, and didn't appeal, however you are never far from a wide range of places to eat. We used the Spa area a couple of times, it is quite small but was never busy.

Stayed here on our honeymoon 21st to 23rd March. Staff very helpful. The spa area was superb and great when you book for exclusive use - champagne and strawberries laid on.
Bed very comfortable, room on 3rd floor facing street, Although on saturday night there was a booming soubnd system from a bar down the street, the sound proofing is so good you barely hear it.
Aircon very good and noiseless.
The only downside really is the bar area / relax area. Just a bit plasticky and bright and they really should remove the large tvs on the wall - it's not a sports bar. Could altogether be made more cosy.
But other than that highly recommended.

The hotel has an excellent location for exploring Florence. Staff are friendly - especially in the breakfast room where they are very welcoming. We had a delux room - not in the tower. It was a fair size with a very large comfortable bed. The bathroom was big with bath and shower. The room is nice and clean. The spa is a welcome treat after walking round the city. We received some added extras, as it was our honeymoon, of a bottle of prosecco on arrival and a free mini bar which was very welcome! We were also given an Easter egg as it was Easter which was very good. The evening menu is more limited in choice but the orange duck is excellent and you mainly want to be eating in Florence anyway.

I agree with some other reviews that it is maybe 4 star not 5. I think if you are in a tower room it is 5 star. The pictures of these rooms looks very good. We were not in a tower room and while the room was very nice and comfortable it lacked character or the 'wow' factor of some other 5 star hotels. Would suggest booking tower room to get best of the hotel.

The staff at reception had some good local knowledge and recommended some good local restaurants. On one occasion the restaurant no longer existed or was not where indicated to us on the map. When we wanted to leave Florence for the day we were first told to drive but actually the train was the easiest and cheapest option. It would have been helpful to have been given all the options. There is a computer with free Internet access which is helpful for finding out any information about Florence or Tuscany. We weren't told at check in about the city tax which was disappointing.

Breakfast has a range of choices and is in a comfortable setting. Agree with other reviews that prices for items off the menu were very expensive but we never found any need to use this and found plenty to eat from the buffet choices. Enjoyed the option of strawberries and cake for breakfast!

The location is excellent for exploring Florence.

Room Tip: Book a room in the tower

Dear Guests,
we thank you for your positive review even if we realized that you were not fully satisfied and we are sorry for this. As for the room, we only have 27 rooms, classic, deluxe, tower deluxe, junior & suites and are very different each other even if all of them are fully furnished. Inside the tower we only have 4 rooms and is valid the rule that is better to book such in advance.
As for the city tax, it was introduced more than one year ago, this is why for us become normal not remind our guests.
We hope you will visit us again and maybe staying in another room you will give the 5th star.
All our best regards,
antonio pellegrino - general manager

This is a lovely hotel. We had a three night break in Florence and were beautifully looked after during our stay. The room was spacious and spotless as was the bathroom. Breakfast was copious and delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. They discovered it was my husband's birthday and gave us a bottle of champagne on ice to enjoy in our room - a real treat. We did not use the spa so cannot comment on this facility. The hotel is very centrally located, walking distance from the station and many of the wonderful museums and churches. We took a guided walking tour and pre-booked our visit to the Uffizi from a booth in the side of the 'Granary' - well worth the few extra euros. A local bus ride (either 12 or 13 from outside the station) to the view point above the city was great. Do visit the British Institute - a terrific organisation - who put on lectures and films.

Room Tip: Although our room was overlooking the street, it was beautifully quiet.
