“Thank You Golden Tower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I stayed 4 days in October. Excellent service with a great location. The helpful and friendly staff make the Golden Tower a superb choice. My cell phone charger broke in travel, the Golden tower provided a loaner when I asked the front desk where I could buy one. I found that we walked everywhere in Florence so believe me when I tell you that I found the whirpool, steamroom and sauna invigorating before setting out for the evening

5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

We spent five nights at the Golden Tower in December for a special anniversary getaway. It lived up to its high ratings in tripadvisor, and it is the latest and best of the three 4-5 star hotels where we have stayed while visiting Firenze. Its central location is excellent for shopping and/or sightseeing. The breakfast buffet is superb, catering to tastes and customs across the world. One of the main reasons that this hotel stands out from the others is the happy and attentive staff, in particular Marco at reception, who could not do enough to help us. We did not use the spa, as we were kept busy visiting and shopping - perhaps next time, as we will likely stay here next time we visit.

The wifi internet access was excellent throughout the hotel, including our room.

A prior review said that the noise from across the square was too loud, and the hotel (and reviews) appear to targeted by/for the "young and hip". We disagree completely. Having stayed for five nights, we heard noise only once on Saturday night during a large street party that spread over several blocks. Our room faced the street/square area. The noise was not overly distracting (we were still able to fall asleep at our usual time - midnight). Indeed the party noise was much louder in the Piazza della Repubblica where the Savoy hotel is located, and the interior noise is less than what we've heard from comparably rated/priced hotels located on other Firenze piazzas. The other guests at the hotel ranged from young couples to much more mature ladies in their golden years, so do not be put off by that review as we almost were. We are so glad we chose the Golden Tower.

Room Tip: If you are still worried about the noise, ask for a room that does not face the street. Remember...

many thanks for posting such a positive and detailed review. This is the beauty of Tripadvisor which very often the best replies are given by our Guests and this can only demostrate that our reviews are genuine.

We had a lovely stay in Florence at the Golden Tower Hotel.
We stayed 8 nights so we had the time to get to know the hotel and its facilities very well.
Not only is the hotel greatly located (just 5 mn to the Duomo, the Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio...) but the service there is oustanding. The staff is extraordinary kind and speaks very well English, French and other languages. Everyone there makes your stay a perfect dream holiday! Special thanks to Marco and his colleagues at the reception who have been very kind and helpful giving us advices for local restaurants, museums and bars.

Room Tip: we had the room number 408, on the courtyard; it was very quiet

I've stayed at this hotel just one night, but it was worth my while. The rooms are very beautiful and spacious. The lobby seemed a bit to small, but maybe this is just because I've stayed before at Aldrovandi Villa Borghese in Rome.
The hotel's settlement is great. You are a few hundred meters of the most important places in Florence. The breakfast is very good too.
Pay attention to the parking. You are not allowed to park your car anywhere in the old part of the town(only the residents). You have to pay 28 Euros/day to a parking garage and the hotel must declare it to the police.

Chose the Golden Tower based upon the reviews on Trip and very disappointed that I did. Trip is a flawed rating service because of the many different levels of travel experience and the various levels of taste. That's not a shot at Trip, it's just a fact. Five stars to some, vjust "ain't" five stars to others. The Golden Tower is an OK hotel....in my opinion, it's about as far away from 5 stars as I am now sitting from the hotel (I'm in NY). I suppose it's targeted at the young and hip and although I'm not THAT old, too young and too hip are sort of a turnoff to me when staying in a premium hotel. If you like the Soho Grand in Manhatten than you'd probably like this place. If on the other hand you perfer a Ritz Carlton than choose perhaps the Savoy or Four Seasons when staying in Florence. Now for the tip of tips: as another reviewer has stated; there is a LOUD disco across the street......if rest is a factor in choosing a hotel than.....forgetaboutit!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room in the back of the hotel.

Dear James G,
we thank you for your comment even if do not hide our surprise while reading it because we do not have understood where the "critical" is.
Indeed, we believe that the reviews made by our "Qualified Guests", of which 95% excellent / good left not only by "young and hip", have to be taken into consideration because is the result of their life experience and how they interface with "luxury" .
The reviews are important when are constucrtive!
As for the live music in the square we respond to what happen inside the hotel even if we have taken measure against the "bar" outside involving the police in order to check the "decibels".

The hotel is a centrally located in a quiet street, a few minutes walk to the Duomo, Uffizi and all the other main attractions of Florence. - you don't need to bother with a car or public transport, as the city is so accessible. Outstanding friendly service is provided - nothing is too much trouble.

We booked a classic room, which was very quiet, overlooking the internal area. These rooms are smaller than the deluxe ones, and the bathroom has a large shower but no tub. But space is quite adequate, decor very attractive, and the large bed provided a comfortable night's sleep.. Free wi-fi, and tea/ coffee making facility in the room, and a minibar (which was not free, as others had suggested). Excellent buffet breakfast with hot and cold options.

All around the hotel are restaurants catering for every taste, and hotel staff were able to give good advice on the best places to eat. Highly recommended...
