“Tuscan Wine Trail Tour A Highlight of our Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

On the second to last day of our visit to Florence we impulsively decided to book one of the tours advertised by FlorenceTown we saw advertised in our hotel lobby. We are so glad we did!

Tours are offered only in English. Transportation is by van to two beautiful wineries/cellars in Tuscany. Our group was small (9 people) and comfortable. Our guide, Matteo, is a sommelier and very knowledgeable. The ride to the estates was scenic and relaxing. The two estates were both gorgeous and after our tours, we were encouraged to wander around the grounds and enjoy the breathtaking vistas. Tasting pours were quite generous and accompanied by hearty and delicious antipasti. We had a leisurely (and delicious) lunch at the second estate which we enjoyed (along with the fellowship of our tour companions) greatly. We came back with several bottles of wine and olive oil which is also grown and bottled there. All told it is about a 6-6 1/2 hour day (including travel to and from). We were back in Florence @ 4:00 pm.

The only area for improvement is at the very beginning of the day when you report to the office for the tour. While the office location is very centrally located and easy to find, several types of tours meet up at the same time every morning and it is a bit chaotic as the groups are sorted out and loaded onto their respective vans. There is no place to wait but outside on the sidewalk which can get a bit chilly in the wind and hard on the feet as there is no place to sit. During the 30 minutes we waited for our group to depart, we were hit on by about 12 different panhandlers who clearly make this a regular stop on their morning treks through the city. The coordinator Giovanna ran them off but she couldn't be everywhere at once and it did get annoying as there really was no place to go. A separate holding area (preferably one with a bench) would be a desirability. But other than that, a flawless day from start to finish and well worth the 120 euro per person cost. I only wish we had had time to take more of their tours.

“A day trip was fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

We did a day tour of Pisa followed by a walking tour of Florence, outstanding place! We then went by coach to a superb restaurant high on the hill overlooking the city.

You absolutely should go.

“Fun and delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We took the Centrale Market tasting and cooking lesson during our visit to Florence. The first stop in the Centrale Market provided very interesting facts about different ages of balsamic vinegar and types of olive oil, cheese, and tomato pâté and olive jelly. Lots of delicious tasting samples. We were full by the second stop so did not really appreciate those samples. The highlight was preparing pasta from scratch, tiramisu, and learning how to make bolognese sauce. We each made tagliatelle and ravioli. Wonderful late lunch with bruschetta and wine included. Andrea and Julio were our chefs- informative, patient and humorous! Good way to spend the day!

“Bike Florence!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

This was the greatest tour we did in Florence! We are in our mid 50's, and were able to keep up with Mario on Good Friday through the streets of Florence in light rain. Super-fun! In the 2.5 hrs we went to about 4 or 5 cathedrals, an outdoor market, rode 1/2 way up to Michelangelo Piazza, got gelato, went into Santo Spirito Square and Cathedral. Mario was soooo darn smart and fun, very patient and adventurous. I highly recommend this tour, totally worth the time and money.
