Description: A typically old school Florence trattoria, Antico Fattore is an original taste of the citys history, dating back to 1929. In this era local creatives would flock to Antico Fattore on a Wednesday to be fed by proprietor and local character Giulio. Giulio may be long gone, along with many of his historic patrons, but the convivial Antico Fattore atmosphere remains. In this old building, where an original wooden beamed ceiling remains and modern design is only of fleeting concern, guests continue to flock to enjoy lingering glasses of wine, intelligent conversation and superb Italian food. The renowned recipes have been handed down and remain as much part of the restaurants history as past patrons.

“Real Tuscan Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

My son, daughter, and I had dinner here during our visit to Florence...and went back twice more! On our third visit, they worked us in late at the end of service. The Florentine steak was to die for, as was the riboletto. Good wines, welcoming service, and delightful food.

“Our best meal in Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

This was our first dinner in Florence and turned out to be both the best and the cheapest. It is also apparently known as Franceso Vini. This was the closest restaurant to our hotel. They agreed to open half an hour early for us since we were tired from our trip. It had one six inch curb to navigate for our daughter in a manual wheelchair, but that was not much of an obstacle. Everything we ordered was excellent, and the service was perfect, including the wine recommendation. Based on our collective desires, our waiter recommended a wine that was clearly intended to satisfy our tastes, not empty our pockets. This was also the least "touristy" dinner we had which is interesting considering it is in the heart of the city, very close to the old bridge.

“So delicious we went back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

We were taken to this restaurant by a local Florentine for lunch. The Tuscan Bread Soup was incredible. Our 16-year old son requested we go back for his birthday, so we enjoyed a second lunch here. The staff is friendly and the food is delicious and simple. We also really enjoyed an appetizer which was a crustini with kale and beans. It is a little pricey, but worth it. Enjoy!

“Loved the food, loved the experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

Eating in Florence is about more than the food - you expect the service and the environment to live up to your expectations of a great experience and the 'Antico Fattore' did it well. The waiters were attentive, the food served quickly, a great wine was recommended and the food was great. We both had meat dishes - scallopine and osso bucco - without a first course or antipasto and it was more than filling. The small lovely setting of the restaurant in a sidestreet reminded you that you were in Florence but provided sufficient peace away from the hordes of tourists that fill Florence at this time of the year. The Antico Fattore is well worth a visit!
