“Great steak and experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

We were seated next to two couples who had dined here the previous two nights. They suggested letting the owner recommend an assortment of the night's pastas and vegetables and we wanted to try the Florentine Steak. The owner asked how many people were having steak, he left, we heard a cleaver, and he returned with a hunk of meat for us to approve. The steak was tender, and simply, but well-seasoned and all of the other dishes were great. The ravioli with ricotta and lemon and the penne with a wild boar sauce were the best.

“Great food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

TypicalTuscan food, great food, rustic place.
We had the "house" wine which I wasn't that impressed by. It might be worth paying another 8 Euros to get a "named" wine.

“Our best unexpected meal in Florence”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

This is an unpretentious place that serves wonderful food. It is a very popular place, be prepared to be turned away if you don't have a reservation. We were lucky we arrived half and hour before opening time and managed to secure a table for 7.30. We went for a quick aperitivo and when we came back at 7.30 there were at least 6 people already queuing! The menu was all in Italian but waiters were very helpful, explaining the dishes and giving recommendations. We chose ricotta filled raviolis which were to die for and a fantastic steak which we wish we could have finished but just couldn't finished as we were too full! We've been back for a week now but we keep talking about that wonderful dinner we had. It was the best meal we had inFlorence.

“FULL of people, lively, great service, lots of food, fun, delicious, cheap!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2013

If you are looking for an "old school" type place where you get the feeling that the large groups of Italians have been coming there every week for years, and where the food is quality in that "solid" way - BOOK HERE!!! We didn't - so we had to wait 30 minutes (note - decent bars right around the corner here) which was no problem. I had a SUPER tasty lemon ricotta stuffed pasta, tender and tasty meatballs, he had 1 kilo of grilled steak, we shared some simple but delicious white beans (all typical, I know...) and couldn't have been happier! Do go for a proper bottle of wine - if you like wine, the house chianti (pay for what you drink) is a disappointment with such tasty food.

“Seasonal Tuscan menu with great ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

Recommended to us by our hotel bartender, we loved it so much we returned the next night. Seasonal vegetables simply prepared complement the Tuscan meat courses. Had an amazing roasted rabbit, tasty fish special, a wonderful fresh chicory side dish and of course, Florentine beef, perfectly prepared.
