“A Fantastic Place to Stay in Florence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2009

Of our 38 day trip and 6 accomodation stays throughout Europe, our family voted "GRANDUOMO" the best of all our stays!!! Great location, across the road from the Duomo, short walk to Santa Maria Novella train station, great restaurants nearby, Accademia and Uffizi both only a short walk. Staff were very friendly and exceptionally helpful, especially "Gino"! Rooms were spotless as was the whole apartment complex. Great room with loft area for children, well serviced kitchen, quiet room, internet access in room. Added facilities were the library and the beautiful rooftop area where we enjoyed many memorable dinners with views of the Duomo outside the windows. Welcome breakfast was great as was the supply of bottled water.Only suggestion would be to install a washing machine and dryer for added convenience. We loved "GRANDUOMO" and would highly recommend to stay there. We will always remember our wonderful time in Florence and our stay at "GRANDUOMO"!!

This is a perfect location, beautiful property with most gracious hosts. We stayed here in early July, 3rd floor, two bedroom apartment. It is literally 30 feet from the Duomo with a magical view from the bedroom window. The apartment is elegantly furnished in cream and beige, beamed ceilings, shower bath room in one room, full tub and bathroom in the second. The kitchen is small but perfectly serviceable with nice china and silverware as well as expresso and capuccino machines. The location is the most central in Florence - a converted palazzo in the part historic center.

The hosts could not be more accomodating and helpful - restaurant recommendations and reservations, shopping tips and personal attention. Daily maid service as with a 4 star hotel. Recommend for couples, families or singles.

We just finished our 9 day tour around Tuscany, with our twin boys (10 yr old) and my mother (75 yr old). We went to stay at Locanda Dell Amorosa in Sinalunga, Granduomo in Firenze and Relais Campo Regio in Sienna. I must say that all places were wonderful and we had amazing memories from each place. However, when I asked my boys, which hotel they loved most, they both said Granduomo. And they have good reasons for this. The Innkeeper, Marinella, was a wonderful lady. She has been really helpful with us from the reservation time to the day we departed the place.
As there were 5 of us, they gave us the 2 rooms on the top floor. One room is facing the backstreet, with kitchenette (with compliments of everything you need to start a day), a small table, 2 queen size beds: one is on the attic/loft style. This room is connecting to the deluxe room, that has 3 double glass window facing to the Duomo. This is really, duh, beautiful! This was a room with kitchenette, table and chairs, and one single couch. You can feel that the owner of this property has put a lot of thoughts into making us comfortable in the room. And, this is the room where my boys sat and did a lot of sketching of the cathedrale and surrounding.
Meanwhile, Marinella has been really helpful, opening our days by booking tickets to the museums, and ending the days by arranging dinner at nice restaurants which are not too touristy. She had also arranged us a great city guide (who loves kids), and later a car and a driver (who speaks English well) to take us to Pisa and Lucca.
The location of this small hotel is perfect, close to the monuments, as well as near to the shopping area.
When we left the place, Marinella gave the boys the perfect souvenir from Tuscany: Pinocchio wooden puppet.

We just returned from a 4 night stay at the Granduomo. We loved it, hands down! The central location was a plus. You could walk everywhere from here. The owners put a lot of thought into little details that make your stay wonderful. We had a back apartment which was nice and quiet - especially after a full day of touring. I would stay here again.

My boyfriend and I stayed here the first night we arrived in Florence. We were at our apartment for less than 24 hours, but loved our experience nonetheless. We liked the apartment so much that we wish we would have been able to stay longer.

It was extremely hard for us to find this place; one, we were new to the city and didn't know our way around and two, it is tucked away behind a small door on a busy street. Once we found it, however, we were very happy. A bright and cheery Italian man at the one-person front desk greeted us and led us up to our apartment.

The room was all white, which was refreshing, and very clean. It was tiny, but this was not a problem for us at all. There was a small kitchen, which we didn't use. The bathroom was nice and clean as well. The apartments are located RIGHT in the center of the Piazza del Duomo. This is a beautiful landmark in Florence. You walk out the front door and your in the middle of the city. However, the room was so quiet, you would have never known you right in the middle of all the action. The bed was okay - a little hard for our liking. It was two twin beds put together, which apparently is common in Europe.

Overall, I would highly recommend these apartments for anyone visiting Florence. It's nice to get away from the typical hotel every once and a while. Plus, it was a great price for what you got!

We stayed here 4 nights. My friends were more interested in shopping than anything else and this was the perfect place. The San Lorenzo market is just 2 blocks down on the right hand side. The grocery store is 2 blocks down to the left of the hotel. We did some grocery shopping on the first day and had breakfast in our room every morning. We had a small kitchen fully equipped. We made coffee every morning. The center of town is straight down from the hotel. It is a perfect location to get around Florence. We enjoyed staying here very much and would stay here again, The hotel owner Marinella was great and very helpful. I loved the little place on the top floor with a sun roof. you can go there and read a good book and relax after a day of walking and shopping. Very comfortable stay.

We arrived late and from our first contact it was obvious from the care and attention we received that the owners ensure their guests experience a high standard of service. The apartment was luxurious, stylish, immaculate and very well appointed. The welcome breakfast provisions made the following morning very relaxing. The apartment was very quiet and relaxing, its location gave us an amazing view of the Duomo. The owners have taken great care in the restoration of this building and the results are stunning. On our return we will be staying at Granduomo apartments.
