Few steps from Piazza Reppublica, in the centre of beautiful ancient city of Cortona (highly recommended as well, much less known than Arezzo, but of the similar beauty) we found this small restaurant, full of local guests enjoying Sunday lunch (always a good sign). We hade to come back in about 25 minutes, but it was worth the waiting.
Two of us asked for antipasto Toscana, appetizers of crostini fegato, - baked bread spreaded by excellent home made liver paté, well seasoned, another bread with fresh tomatoes cut in small pieces, and some salami and local dried ham. Other primi piatti were pici all anatra a tagliatelle all anatra, both pasta with duck ragout. This was good, but not excellent, the duck taste was a bit hidden. Main course – twice Cinghiale, young wild boar, baked in the oven, large bowl full of meat pieces, no fat at all, delicately seasoned, excellent without any complaint. One had agnello, lamb baked on grill, with crispy sides, excellent and the last was pasta with wild boar, also very good. With appetizers we had half of litr of white wine, simple Trebbiano, with main course a litr of Chianti classico, which was much much better, very good. We paid about 90 Euro for the whole meal (we were unable to eat sweet dishes, which looked nice), which is a very good price.
