“simply excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

The accommodation here is as other reviews have already stated, simply excellent spotlessly clean ,with good access from the main Perugia road.Cortona is just up the road ,and 2 supermarkets are also minutes away.Carola is very attentive to any inquiries, and when the air con was a little temperamental in one of the spots she was quickly in touch with the technicians.
The grounds are well presented with a super pool plenty of sun loungers,WiFi,and although some reviews express concern about the access to the road we found it straightforward enough. Loggia which we used was very comfortable with a great balcony where we dined, looking up at cortona on the hillside.would I go back ? Absolutely.

We have had a wonderful stay at La Renaia. We booked the Loggia, which had a large balcony with good chairs, sunbed and a large sunshade. Perfect for a relaxed breakfast, lunch, dinner or late evening drink ;-). The apartment had a good air conditioning unit in both bedrooms and we had a nice little dishwasher in our kitchen. All the comfort you need for a relaxed holiday. The swimming pool was really good (large) and had comfortable sunbeds and nice natural shade by some big trees. The water was a bit cold the first days, but after 4 days it was warmed by the sun and excellent. Almost all time we had a private pool. Cortona is near by (3 km) and has some excellent places for lunch and dinner (Fufluns, Bucaccia, Osteria Del Teatro, Dolce Maria or La Logetta). Also a nice place to have some good, not expensive food, is La Tufa in Ossaia, which is 2 km drive from La Renaia. For some real good meat you go to the local supermarket Lunghini, also recommended by Carola (the owner) as well where you can buy some real good home made salami with garlic and pepper!

Room Tip: Take the Loggia if you like some extra privacy.

La Renaia Agritourismo, Montalla, Cortona

My wife, Lynn, and I just returned from our 2+ week visit to Tuscany. Our 2nd week was spent at La Renaia Agriturismo, Montalla, Cortona. Carola is a warm and wonderful host, and the accommodations in our apartment, La Loggia, couldn't have been nicer or more spacious. Our bedroom was very large and our bed was comfortable - a great place to "crash" after a day of walking the steep streets of Cortona. The kitchen was large enough for the two of us and well equipped, and Carola had a basket of goodies waiting for us upon our arrival. She even had a bottle each of her fathers rosso (on the table) and bianco (in the fridge) for us - how great is that? Just off the kitchen was a large partially covered patio deck that was great for relaxing, writing in our log, and just absorbing the views and sounds of the surrounding Cortona countryside. We didn't get to use the pool because it was the first week of October, but it was beautiful. The days were warm enough, but the evenings cooled the water down - but who cared - we were in ITALY, and just outside one of our most favorite Tuscan hill towns!!

La Renaia is about 10-minutes from Cortona, which is plenty close enough but far enough to make you feel a part of the land, if you know what I mean. Just be very careful when pulling out of the driveway on to the road because the locals fly by very fast and you kind of have "blind spots" looking either left or right, so in-out slowly then floor it! Cortona has a great new car park and escalator system that makes getting in and out a breeze. La Renaia and Cortona are in a great location for exploring the area and other amazing hill towns close by. If you've never tried an agritourismo accommodation, try La Renaia - you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: La Loggia was "perfecto" for a single couple. The road next to La Renaia is a bit busy, bu...

Back for the third time!
This time we were here with friends and the welcoming by Carola was warm as usual.
The wine and snacks were waiting in the appartment. This time we had the appartment "Il Grande", 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a dishwasser. The appartment is very spacious, comfortable and very clean!!
The swimming pool served us well and the sunbeds are comfortable. Near the pool you have wifi.
One of the reasons we stay here regularly is the nearness of Cortona. What a lovely little town this is. The place we go to eat is called Trattoria Toscana, Via Dardano 12 near the big square. This is an excellent place to eat, good food, good wine for very reasonable prices. Book a table before you go. The restaurant is closed on tuesdays.

Our first time at La Renaia was about 8 years ago when we were driving around Tucsany looking for a place to stay. Since that time we have stayed there every time we go to Tucsany. We have also told our friends that travel to Italy about the agriturismo Everyone that has stayed there claims that it was the hi-lite of their trip. The rooms are done beautifully and the grounds are well kept. It is very close to the walled city of Cortona, which is a fabulous city. The owners are the most wonderful people and their hospitality is the best. We highly recommend La Renaia!!!!

So warm and welcoming! Carola is a sweetheart. Our apartment was huge compared to the other places we had stayed thus far. Our kitchen was very fun to cook in and there is a little local grocery store very close by. It was less than a 10 minute drive to the hill town of Cortona. Arezzo is very close as well. Carola suggested we go to the antique market in Arezzo. The antique market was created in 1968 (it was the first antique market in Italy). Over 500 sellers set up booths in the beautiful streets in the historical center of the town the first Saturday & Sunday of each month.

We stayed at this agriturismo for a week in May 2005 and again in May 2007.
The place is owned and run by Carola Lazzeri.
La Renaia is still partly a farm, but some barns have been converted into appartments. The appartments are very well furnished and very comfortable. The location is great and just 10 minutes out of Cortona in the countryside.
Carola is a very kind and warm host and makes you feel at home.
The place is perfect for everyone, older people as well as families with (young) children. Although you can book here per night, I think most people stay here for a week.
There is a lovely swimming pool, a playroom with a billiard table, there is an outside table tennis table and a tennis court!
I can highly recommend this place and we will certainly come back again.
