“Not in Cortona”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

This hotel is NOT in Cortona. It has a nice view of Cortona, but is in the next town of Comucia in the township of Cortona and is a 15 minute or so drive up to the town. The hotel is very nice with park-like grounds and a great pool area. Cortona and the area around it are awesome by the way!

“Bad experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I spent a week with my family (five people in total) and we were very disappointed specially with the facilities.

We've chosen the Casa Del Frantoio because it could accommodate comfortably all of us. Actually, it's a very spacious house, but the furniture is old, the kitchen is not complete and it's dark.

We were travelling during the winter and we were advised by the staff that most of hotel's facilities shouldn't be working, but we couldn't expect such a bad wi-fi: it was impossible to use it and the staff couldn't care less. The promise was a cable internet inside the apartment (it doesn't work) and a useful wi-fi signal inside the hotel's lobby, but we got nothing in any place. I was luck to find a "cafe" with good wi-fi in the main road.

It's important to say that occurred a blackout because some devices (hairdryer, oven, lamps) were on. A very unpleasant situation.

Buongiorno,

Cordiali saluti

“Wonderful Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

We chose this inn based on reviews on TripAdvisor. The inn is just beautiful, the property gorgeous and a great swimming pool which we were able to enjoy even though it was October! Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent with a good variety of offerings. The inn is located in the valley below the mountain village of Cortona and a bit hard to find from the autostrada. However, we did have a GPS which got us to the establishment. Cortona is on the southern end of Tuscany, really closer to Umbria. However, it is a great location for a base to tour Tuscany. There is a train station located about 7-8 minutes away where you can catch a train to Florence or Rome. The staff was extremely helpful and recommended two excellent restaurants, one in the walled village of Cortona and the other just 2 minutes down the street--both the best meals we ate in Italy. They also assisted us with Mapquest directions to our next location. It was the least expensive hotel of our stay and probably the best overall. Will definitely return on our next trip

Room Tip: All rooms are wonderful, but would probably book the least expensive if you don't plan to spend...

“What helpful people.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2012

We stayed here in September, and after reading some of the reviews we were a bit apprehensive. The peole were extremely helpful with any questions we asked. The pool was fantastic and very clean. We stayed in one of the appartments and it was just what we were looking for, it gave freedom to do as we wanted, it was perfect. Some reviews mentioned the road noise and you can hear it as it is a busy road, but after a few hours we did not notice the noise, as the level is not high at all. I would be very happy to go back for another week.

“Superb villa estate, wish we stayed a month”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

We had one night in a hotel room and wished we were staying longer. The room was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Staff were fantastic and helpful. The estate is to-die for - 25 acres of gorgeous gardens, old buildings, restaurant, tavern, massive swimming pool etc. Even have grape vines and fruit trees. We had a delicious meal at the restaurant with staff very knowledgeable about the food and wines. The free on-site laundry was a god-send. It can be hard to find with google maps giving directions to the locked back gate. We only found the front entry by accident. Please management - put a sign on the back gate with directions to the entry.
