My cousin and I originally planned to stay two nights while visiting Cortona, but within a few minutes of our arrival and walking around the beautiful B&B property and meeting Simonetta, the owner, and being greeted by her very friendly dogs and also being introduced to her other guests --- we lucked out by extending our stay to five nights. The B&B is roomy, beautifully decorated and so very welcoming and is perfectly located for day trips to hill towns and cities in Tuscany. It was nice to come back every evening from a day of touring and relax in the guest living room. The B&B felt like our home away from home!

Breakfast was always full of yummy choices and the dining room is most inviting. Simonetta provided excellent suggestions for our day trips and was most helpful in arranging an overnight stay in Lucca. And, we certainly enjoyed our cooking lesson with Simonetta --- lots of laughs and photos --- and the evening meal for four (other guests from Conneticut) was a wonderful Tuscan treat --- it included all the food we prepared that afternoon as well as some red wine!

Yes, a car is needed to stay here. Iif you like large rooms, clean and spacious baths and enjoy waking up to lovely country views in all directions, then Casa Bellavista is a definite stop on your tour through Tuscany.

We stayed at Casa Bellavista for two nights this month but could easily have stayed for two weeks. The setting, as previous reviewers have noted, was like something out of Travel & Leisure, and every detail of the house and the room we stayed in was perfectly considered. Simonetta and Guido were ideal hosts, making us feel at home more than any other place I've stayed in Italy. I can heartily recommend Simonetta's elegant home-cooked meals. Although a bit remote, the experience of staying here more than made up for it. We can't wait to go back!

We visited Casa Bellavista two years ago. Set in the rolling vineyards and olive groves of the Valdichiana it managed to combine comfortable yet sophisticated accommodation, the highest quality food and wine with the warm Italian hospitality of our hosts Simonetta and Guido.
The high point of our stay was to cook a meal guided by Simonetta, we were even taught how to make pasta by a local farmers wife! Our young people were amazed at our skill when they ate the Italian dishes we had produced!
Another thing is that Casa Bellavista is very well placed and we were able to visit all our favorite places like Cortona, Montapulciano, Sienna, and Florence.
We are returning to Casa Bellavista in September- we have stayed away too long!

We highly recommend Casa Bellavista. The location is very central to visiting the hill towns of Tuscany, Chianti region and Assisi. Simonetta and Guido are very friendly & helpful with suggestions and maps. Our bedroom with balcony & views and bath with 2 windows was a delight. The 360 degree views from their home will delight you. Breakfast was wonderful. I regret that we did not have one of Simonetta's dinners or take advantage of the Vespas. Next visit...

Our first bed and breakfast in Tuscany was our stay at Casa Bellavista. We were welcomed by the dogs who have lots of bark , but no bite. Simonetta and Guido welcomed us warmly and came out with tea and cookies for us. Our room was fabulous and spacious and looked out across the landscape of fields and farms. The balcony was a bonus . Simonetta was so helpful in planning our trips around the area. She suggested that we go by train to Firenze and even checked all the times for us. Alas in the morning she told us that she had found that a one day strike was going on and that we would be unable to go by train. This is what we consider to be a very special host , who wants so badly for you to have a great time. The children Carolina and Philip (not sure if we spelled them right) were great too , but were shy to speak English to us. Simonetta and Guido spoke wonderful English and that was a great help to us Canadians who had about 2 words of Italian between us .
We highly recommend a stay at Casa Bellavista and know that your experience will be the same as ours, very special. Thank you so much Simonetta and Guido for making our first visit to Tuscany so special.

  • Liked — Location , cleanliness and the friendly hosts
  • Disliked — The road in , but it is being paved this spring says Guido.
