“Best Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2014

I have stayed at the Hotel San Luca on six different occasions, and I am bringing my tour group there April of 2014. I think the views, staff and the rooms are what Tuscan dreams are made of.
The rooms are small, but adequate. The staff is always available to assist, and seem happy to do so. The location and views are the best!

Room Tip: Ask for a view...even if it costs a little more!

We were here for a week for business, and almost immediately started looking for other places to stay on our next trip to Cortona. The location is marvelous - perfect for exploring the lovely old hill town of Cortona. The views were extraordinary. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the buffet breakfast was good. But the room was dark and when you opened the window you looked onto the wall of the city so no direct sunlight and no view. Beds were acceptable, Frette hotel grade linens, pillows were horrible - like someone had stuffed a pair of pants into a pillowcase to pass off as a pillow. Sad. Bathroom had been upgraded and was nice. This would not be my first choice of places to stay in Cortona. Wifi was a pain as you needed to get a code almost daily and keep logging in for access. They have a computer on the floor below the lobby entrance.

Room Tip: If you want a room with a view, book well in advance and don't be traveling with a group.

The room was small and spartan, but adequate. The bathroom was tiny, with no place to put toiletries. But the view and location were A+! Absolutely perfect. Steps away from Via Nationale, the "main drag" in Cortona. Fabulous views from the Piazza Garibaldi. Sunsets from our balcony were exquisite. Close to the lovely park which leads to the road to "Bramasole," Frances Mayes' Tuscan home. Absolutely the best location in Cortona!

The restaurant has different owners from the hotel, but they have a good working relationship. I agree with previous reviewers that you must get to the breakfast buffet early, as food runs out and is not always replenished. Staff is good overall, but there can be a little attitude. Some at the
front desk were not always warm and fuzzy during our stay. Attempts at any Italian whatsoever on our part, and basic good manners and gratitude went a long way to warming things up quickly.

Although San Luca is not a luxury hotel, its central locality and convenience make it a top choice for Cortona. We would stay there again. (And we are fairly picky.)

Room Tip: Request a balcony!!

Just returned from Cortona and had a fantastic time. Hotel was in a great location, had phenomenal view from the room and the restaurant terrace. Food was very good. Bathroom was decent sized and clean. Hotel staff was very helpful and polite. I would definitely return to this hotel again.

We did not take a hotel room but only ate in the restaurant.
Is on the cliff with stunning views of the valley.
The food is very tasty and very accommodating service.
The meat is cut by the butcher with guests and grill is right on hand.
And very delicious pizzas Raghu meat was excellent.
Lamb chops were delicious and full of meat.
The price was about 60 euros for five people

I have been to San Luca hotel for 10 days in August, I have had the most wonderful time. The views are stunning, the staff are very friendly and the room was spotless. I will definitely go there again and will recommend it to my friends.

This Hotel was arranged as part of a group tour. The hotel does a lot of group tours. It is on a hill with a great view, right outisde of the entrance to the old part of Cortona. For the group, meals were a fixed menu, but the food was good. The rooms are small, but comfortable, if you have a view of the valley. People with inside rooms, were not as satisfied. The hotel has a full service menu, but we did not try it.

Room Tip: must have a room with a view of the valley
