“Relax and simply enjoy the region”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

We arrived at Villa Marsili around 8 pm. We were greeted warmly and welcomed to Cortona. After getting our bags in the room, the gentleman at the front desk called ahead and found us a nice place for a light dinner. Parking here is free, but it is on the street. I drove about a half mile away, parked the car and never touched it again until we left.
The hotel is located on the edge of town with a view that is nothing less then breathtaking. The Villa Marsili was the second of three hotels we stayed at during this trip and it was our favorite because of the views, the people and the location to Cortona. Walking up the hill from the hotel to the center of town took us past numerous shops, restaurants and gelato shops. It really was a place for us to relax after a busy trip in Rome and a busier schedule ahead in Florence. The hotel as beautiful rooms made up of mostly antiques. The room is comfortable, except for the beds and a shower that is so small, my wife turned off the water and opened the shower door so that she could shave her legs. The hotel makes up for any low points by offering a very nice breakfast, although cooked to order eggs will cost you additional charges, The courtyard is a great place to sit with coffee and at night they offer a nice wine social. You can also intrust them to make excellent restaurant suggestions.
Overall, book with confidence. We could not have been happier with our decision to book our stay at Villa Marsili in Cortona. I'm sure you'll be writing your own amazing reviews upon your return as well.

Room Tip: Grab a cup of coffee and head to the courtyard.

My husband and I made our first visit to this delightful hotel a year ago. We had some family 'big birthdays' to celebrate and so returned with our two daughters in August. From the moment we drove the car through the gates we were made to feel as welcomed as if we were family members. Our car was parked for us as we settled into the villa and enjoyed the view across the valley over to Lake Trasimeno from our rooms on the third floor. Perfect! The hotel is beautiful, tranquil and the bedrooms are well furnished. The staff appear to be the happiest people in the world - each person we came across gave us a smile and a cheerful greeting. Breakfast is out of this world and the 'little extras' provided are simply amazing. It is not common to feel SO happy in a hotel, there is usually one little thing that niggles, but in our total of 6 nights here over two visits we have not found anything less than 100% perfection. Well done to all at Villa Marsili! We would simply love to return.

This hotel is ideally located within walking distance of the town center, and parking is not an issue as it is free on the street and the staff will park it for you--a big advantage in a Tuscany town. The staff is perhaps the friendliest, most helpful I've encountered in Italy or elsewhere. Joana ("Yo!) at the front desk is a sweetie and her recommendations for restaurants and sights were spot on. Luana is as competent a concierge as you'll find anywhere. On my first night there the AC in my (very small) room was not working properly, and the night manager promptly moved me to a HUGE room (the one Diane Lane stayed in?) for the night; it was booked the next day but they moved me, at no cost, to a bigger room than my original one. Then there are the breakfasts--quite simply the best complimentary breakfast I have encountered anywhere in the world. Wonderful assortment of goodies: cheese, prosciuttos, pastries, fruit, you name it. And plentiful American coffee.
If you are staying in Cortona, this is the place!

Lovely hotel in excellent location. The service was excellent and could not have been bettered. The reception staff were fantastic, enthusiastic, friendly and very helpful. They arranged for our car to be parked, booked restaurants for us, told us about events that were taking place and places to go. If you want to stay in Cortona, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: You cant go wrong because the service in this hotel is excellent and the staff at this hotel will he...

A delightful hotel in a beautiful little town. It is very rare nowadays to stay somewhere where every member of staff are so incredibly friendly, helpful and happy at their work. This and the quality of the Hotel itself added up to a fantastic stay. Highly recommended.

We loved our stay here for two weeks in early to mid May. Besides the excellent breakfast buffet, the happy hour complimentary snacks and the late night vin santo, the rooms were spotless, large and offered a beautiful view of the valley. However, the best part was the staff. They were so upbeat and helpful and pleasant. I was actually ill for a couple of days and they got a local doctor to pay a house visit and sat and translated for us. I recovered quickly and it made only a tiny dent in an otherwise spectacular trip. The girls at the reception desk know the area well and were great sources of information for us as we were driving to the various hill towns in Tuscany and Umbria with Cortona as our base. They made reservations for us for dinners, for wine tastings, and for cooking class at Toscana e Gusto. I have been meaning to email them directly to tell them how wonderful our time was with them.

Staying in Cortona was a wonderful choice. You can visit all the other lovely towns all within an hour, and Cortona is just beautiful. We loved staying in Villa Marisili. The location was great, with a spectacular view! In addition, each and every one of the staff was amazing...warm, incredibly attentive and helpful! The minute we stepped in after a long flight they greeted us with a hug and a welcome as if we were family. They made our stay complete and couldn't do enough for us. The deluxe room and suite was spacious, bed was very comfortable, and spotlessly clean! Loved staying here and would recommend Villa Marsili to anyone visiting Tuscany. FYI, it was also easy to park there and walking to town was 5 to 7 minutes, very easy. Keep up the great work. A million thanks and hope to visit soon again!

Room Tip: We stayed in rooms 30 and 35, view was amazing!
