“Val d'Orcia: Gods own country!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Val d'Orcia (valley of the river Orcia) is declared Unesco World Heritage Site. It is the unique combination of an unbelievable and stunning landscape, the quiet life of the ''contadini'', the outstandig quality of food and wines, culture and history that can be found under each stone that you may lift, and the kind people with their amazing hospitality that made us decide more than 10 years ago that exploring the world any further would be a waste of time. Since than we spent our holidays only in the beautiful heart of the Val d'Orcia, in Pienza. And since we are retired we donot speak of holidays any longer, but we cal this place another place to celebrate our daily life. Dolce far niente, here it becomes true! And more than this.

“amazing!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

I knew Tuscany quite well, but had never ventured into the area south of Siena.Val d'Orcia is quite unique compared to the other more well known areas and cities around Florence,Siena,Lucca etc..amazing landscape of dramatic hills, with small hill top towns and castles all dominated by the presence of Monte Amiata.A photographers dream and an area of rustic trattoria's,serving great value food and lovely local wine. Its become my favourite area of Tuscany and can't wait to go back!!

“My favourite place in Tuscany, Italy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2008

I've been to Tuscany various times and the last three times I rented large villas with friends in the Val d'Orcia area. Absolutely amazing.
There are a lot of beautiful places to visit such as Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Montepulciano or just drive through the countryside.
It's a must see for everyone going to Tuscany.
